This is just information purposes. I'm plating with the 5105s right now and wanted more rpm. So I ordered up a 5100s coil. While they look identical the 5100 coil will not start the 5105. Not sure why but it don't work. Lol. I know the make a red 5105 coil that's higher rev limited but not sure on that one.

Anyone wanna buy a 5100s coil. I got one! :)

Maybe a 5100 flywheel AND coil is the ticket?

Maybe. Or maybe the red 5105 coil will work. Idk. I'll post this coil up and if it sells I'll try a 5105 red instead of black. Or hopefully someone has played with these and can tell me. Lol.

Brad Snelling posted some info on 5100 coils on AS. I didnt save the link should have as I have 5-5100's and a 510. IIRC there are 4-5 coils for 5100 don't know about 5105. I thought the 5100 and the 5105 were interchangeable.

I think it was 166 that decoded the 5100S, 5100S+ and 5105 ignitions, changes made through the years, and what will/will not interchange. I believe it is located in Brad's latest 5100 thread on AS.

I'll have to tach my 5100s and see which coil is on it. It's a 2006 or 2007 model.

Just to side track a little....does anyone know if they make a quality after market piston and cylinder for the 5105/5100?

I found a place online that sells VEC brand Pistons for them. Not sure who VEC is? I don't need one but I see some scored saws from time to time.

Do you have a 14,500 coil for a PS-5100s or Gen 1 PS-5105SC? The 14,500 coil for the 5100s has been discontinued and switches to the 13,500 coil.

I'll pm you this evening if that's ok. I have a couple questions to straighten out in my head. But i want to grab the part numbers before I do. :)

So problem one. Mines a brand new 5105 easy start. With the 181 143 211 black. I've found out the 181 143 204-red-5100s dosnt work. So does any of the red higher limited coils work?.

Question 2.
I have a customer needing a coil. His saw has the 181-143-110-grey-5105. What coil will work for him.
I'm hoping the 181 143 204 will as I have one. Lol.

Thank you for your help!
