Well got a bit of time to play today and came up with these.

Archer full comp square.

Something about these it is nearly impossible to stay out of the tie straps. Stihl rs with same settings doesn’t touch at all

Had the wheel at a knife edge almost before, was still catching them. Re shaping helped some not a lot though. It is what it is I guess

Lower your stone holder and come in at a more shallow angle to the chain. The archer chain may not be as tall as the other chain.

Not understanding lowering stone holder? Had arm tilted as far down as I could when I did those. Archer is definitely shorter.

You may need to raise the stone holder on the motor shaft or move the chain holder on the arm if you are running at the arm at full tilt down.

Lowering the arm will make you have to put the chain higher on the radius of the stone holder to hit the corner, the higher on the radius the flatter the chain approach angle is to the stone and the less likely you are to hit the straps. You may have to adjust you dresser angle to not have too much side plate angle.

Also moving the chain holder away from the stone will make contact to the stone further inward on the grinder, producing a blunter top plate but also helping avoid hitting the straps.

Thank you sir Makes sense now. I wasn’t seeing it in my head the angles I used on that funny enough barely nicked the ties in archer .325 chisel. But as you said chain was further up the radius.

.325 and 3/8 lopro are hard to square grind, especially when the cutters are still long.

Was quite surprised with the archer .325 it went smooth as can be with the settings I used for the 3/8” the Stihl .325 I’ve been grinding has gotten the dr and straps pretty deep first run out of the box.

I appreciate the info!

I was really happy to see a blue wheel on it! I ordered a extra salmon wheel and the Multi-Point Diamond-Tipped Dresser.

I’m planning on learning with the salmon wheel.

All I use is the Salmon it’s easier to see the corner of the wheel into the tooth corner.
