Alumifix low heat welding rods

These Durafix rods might be good for cylinder repairs. Gunna try to see if they have something for magnesium for case repairs too. Let me know what you think.

Looks like pure clean aluminum. I tried similar stuff years ago on alloys and it failed miserably. Needed too much heat and the bond was sad even with good prep I had no bite.

Aluminum brazing rods like these are nothing new, they've been around for a long time. They don't do well on used/dirty material. The filler will not stick if you brush the base material with a steel brush or grind on it with an abrasive that has ground steel before. Carbide, aluminum oxide and stainless steel only on the base metal or it won't stick.

Tig welding is still the best option.

I agree with tig as best option but for the guys that dont have equipment available this might be a good option especially with the lower heat and no flux. It would be slick if its a quality product. Magnesium different story lol

Might be a cheap option to stick together aluminum to make a pipe...

I've used a bunch of this stuff. If you get the hang of it, it is very cool. Big downside is the high melting temperature. Just a tad under the melting temperature of aluminium.
Combine that with the great heat conductivity properties of aluminium and you are at risk of creating an aluminium puddle instead of repairing your aluminium whatever.
