Thinking about selling my ported 2260 for a 462. Die hard Jonsered guy but times change.. Seems as though the weight difference is slight. Probably run a 20” bar on the 462 and still run a light 50cc for the tops and a 90cc saw for larger stuff. Two questions:

Has anyone ran a 462 enough to say they aren’t running their 362/562/2260 etc anymore?

Does the 462 running 72dl measure fairly close to 20” with stock dogs? I noodle a lot and the 2260 had the power but a 20” bar wouldn’t reach through rounds cut to my preferred 18” length, bugged the hell out of me.

I don’t have much run time on it yet, but in anticipation I sold my 562, 6100, 357. I don’t think I’ll miss them honestly. I’m impressed with how the 462 runs.

The only 60cc I still have are my mofo 034Super and the 036 deets I just picked up.

Is that an 18" on there now? That would be setup great for cutting off a log pile.

I’m wondering this too. Anyone have a weight of a 462 full of fluids?

@Redbull661 did a video comparing the 572 & 462 Arctic weights. The 462 came in at 15lbs 7oz full of gas and oil and he said it was 7oz heavier then the non arctic version. So 15lbs full.

So, I have run a 462 about 90 seconds tops. I was handed a running saw at a GTG and made a dozen or so cuts on a log pile. My thoughts were that all my 60 & 70 cc (ported) saws were now obsolete. It was so light and crisp and nimble between my hands. I was thinking I could live very easily with it and my ported 241. Two saw plan... Doubt it’ll ever happen, but two modern saws would supersede my entire fleet/collection. Oh, and the air filters are to die for...

Im not so sure I'd let a 2260 go for one..to each their own..
You are probably right, just need to sacrifice something to put a dent in a 462. The 2260 will probably be one of those holy grail saws 15 years from now

The dry weight of a Stihl MS462 is 14.6 lb. Add fluids and you can add another pound.
