I thought the tractor said farmer tech! Nice piece of log.
I may have a mantle of maple for a narrow fireplace.20190410_152346.jpg
The bench in the foreground is around 3" thick, and then the 5" table is a mirror of the trunk on the ground. The inclusion doesn't go thru the other side20190410_163540.jpg
Got to the limit on 42" bar and my rasslin' thick slabs onto a stickered stack. May need to make a loop for the 50" cannon, depending on condition of one I may locate.

Picked up the clear 2 part epoxy to pour into the inclusions to keep position and color, etc. during next cut. The 25' reel of archer chain came in today's mail almost half was cut off because 50" bar is too short on one end. 60" bar needed, wanna test archer square 185 dl's then 213 dl's for the 72" and there will be 7 or 8 links left for repair.:naughty2:

Beautiful wood. Some body got themselves a very nice mantle!
I am waiting on a passerby who stopped to ask about one of the mantles thickness pieces that are out front of my mechanics house20190413_182854.jpg
The man likes the curve for $70 ask. I like it when the 1st piece of the tree covers most of the reel of chain:aaaaa:being retired I'm doing this for the entertainment factor. Like finding the usual & unusual when it's fresh green20190413_182913.jpglike this slice 1st off the stump. Probably 4 saplings growing close grew together over the years. He'll be here momentarily

Oookay:aaaaa: backed his pickup to load the stick before he got out!
Then "have to give you $100, what can I add?" The slice of crotch upper right filled the bill. Turns out he was the 2nd person to stop about that cut with the curve slice. If the first returns the wider longer but straight other mantle will be $100. I also like people appreciating what is found in these logs with cash:banana:

Sure wish I had a grapple.

Pulled a decent BW log. It's going to be a mantle for a friends new house.

Eta: MS 261CM/16" and 660 w/24" in the bucket. 2 saw plan.

I like that technique, it keeps the weight down low and also closer to the pins. On my little bota it struggles to pick up large pieces with the forks I have, they are the screw on ones and they put the weight out far away from the pins and higher in the air usually to get around.

Thanks; the donations or lack there of aren't the item that determines my play. Finding/having access to a log plays a bigger role. I may have gotten enough epoxy Into the inclusions to fill em & hold the 4 trunks together on the maple. My friend the nurse pesters my mechanic about how long-how soon will that be gone. Mechanic just grins at me when he tells me. So as soon as.... Rain expected tomorrow, loop is on bar, awaiting construction of the Alaskan around it.

I hear that. I may get to do some playing tomorrow if the paying wants it done right away. I've got a large red oak that a guy asked me to take down, there's quite a few board ft in it along with a few others on his property, I told him to call someone in and he said yaaaah. There's usually a reason I made it to that point in the process, it's pretty much mine at that point. What's funny is he only wants them dropped, they'll probably rot where they hit the ground, he could get paid for them, but instead he'll be paying me lol.

I've been known on a rare occassions to stop and ask about a nice looking log. Usually details get in the way. "If you want it it must be worth...". for example. Then there's Mike & his SIL 2 Septembers ago. Saw me milling on a 10 foot clear white oak & asked if I'd have interest in an ash down in Mike's yard. Got 14 slices from the trunk and two 2x9's 11 feet long out of a limb, just varies
