Has anybody got a real good idea when the first saws were produced? Acres site says 93 but I have seen earlier models. Thanks

The first IPL is for 1993 the second and last 1997 and is still produced yet today, just when the saw first came on the scene is a better question for Bob @Spike60 .

@Stump Shot , I know that This Question is Off topic, But is the Hiway 52mm big bore cylinder worth considering, I have seen on this site that AM cylinders typically made less power than Factory Jugs, All things being equal. So would I just Be burning More fuel to end up at the Same place ??? And is there an upgraded Carb ( I.E. Bigger ) that's a simple swap, My saws are either used at 100' elevation, Or 4500 to 7000' elevation.... Yea a little different air Density...

272 is 52mm already and also as big as it can be on that chassis.
It's a gamble whether or not you get a good performing AM cylinder kit. I prefer to resurrect old OEM ones myself, speaking of, new OEM cylinder kits are pretty reasonable now, if I didn't have anything good to work with that would be the direction I would take.

Thanks for all the help. Mine is a 91 production and I think it may be one of the first due to the Orange XP on the recoil.
Is it a non decomp cylinder?

Thank you for the help & Information
Is there a bigger/ better carb, that's a Straight retrofit on the 272 ???
So Is the 372 a 50, or 52mm bore ???
Thank's Stumpshot

Tillotson HS-260A is the best latest version for the 272 and 268's.

372 is a 50mm bore and can have a 52mm big bore top end installed. Usually slower with more torque is the end result. Will pull a longer bar good.

Sounds about right. Got a 272 on the bench right now from mid 1992.

Can't go by IPL dates as they are very misleading. Plus, many saws are mid year introductions and IPL's can be either ahead or behind the saws actual arrival. Add to that the fact that there is always some overlap between the outgoing and incoming model which in this case meant 268XP, 272XP not to mention 268 open port saws all being on sale at the same time.

The jug with the deco valve arrived in late 1994.
