Mornin'. So I bought this 9000/9010 as a parts saw quite a while ago from Cole @Armbru84 . It was in bad shape and was locked tight. After getting it torn apart, I found some scoring, but the bottom end was locked up. The cylinder was in decent shape with only light transfer.

I was pretty afraid the crank was going to be shot, but after getting it torn down and the bearings removed, it was surprisingly good. The bearings had rusted and were the reason the saw was frozen up. It had about a pound of spruce needles in the thing too. Lol.

So, here goes the restoration of this derelict giant. Well, resto-mod. :D

I've been collecting parts for this thing over the last 6-months or so. It's a conversion from the 9000 to a 9010, so a new coil and flywheel were in order.

9010 flywheel. I've gotta find the 9000 flywheel. I think it's in the shed. I'll post a pic of it later.
The 9000 coil/flywheel won't work with the 9010 coil/flywheel is what I understand.

While I was in the holding pattern for parts, I went ahead and completed some mods.

I ported the cylinder and opened the muff. A closed muff is no good to anyone. :)

The muffler was rusted pretty bad. I cut it open and modded the baffle. Got rid of the factory deflector.

I opened the stock outlet up quite a bit and added a @Red97 deflector.

On to the nitty gritty....

IMG_20181010_173121.jpg IMG_20181012_172716.jpg

It had a little mag rot in the crankcase on the PTO side. I think it must have sat with some water in it. On to stripping and powder.

From all the research I did, powder coat and baking will stop mag rot (white death).

Getting the paint off of this thing was a PITA!

Looking good Dan!!

Thanks Cole. I finally got around to building this thing.

Thats some purdy portin there Dan!
Looks real nice!

Thanks Ed!

Built one of these from scratch about a year ago. Fun build!!

Definitely a fun saw to work on Jeremy!

Where did you have the best luck with parts? I have a pretty decent shape one that I need to get back into.

Keep it coming!

I found quite a few on eBay. Sometimes you have to check out the EU sites. I also ordered OEM parts from a Dolmar supplier in Germany called Detlev.
