So I recently acquired this chipper shredder and after a standard tune up I got it running. Shortly after the belt broke and I ordered a replacement. Within a hour of installation the belt broke again. I tried adjusting the engage lever but no luck.

I saw somewhere that someone had modified the pullies to a centrifugal clutch system just trying to understand how I could be able to do this. Or any alternative solutions to not wear out the next belt I receive. I can upload pictures if that will help anyone get a better understanding of what I am talking about. The chipper is in good condition and I've invested some time and money and have a lot of work around the property that needs to get done.

Thanks in advance.
Brock.

We would need a pic, or at least a model number to be able to make any comment at all.

Actually, the problem is likely something else entirely, like you need to get a proper belt.

When Troybilt died, MTD took the mower lines, Murray took the chipper/shredders,
but without any info, it is doubtful you will get many suggestions.

I know... again, thanks for trying whatever it was you were trying to accomplish. Model number is irrelevant to what I am looking for.

Sounds like you had a guy with experience and you ran him off. I have a really old one in my shed that I haven’t gotten around to fixing. But with them being made over 30+ years there are tons of different models that can all work differently. No gonna find much help over just the chippers name.

The chippers name is more than enough for anyone who knows anything about these machines. Thanks for your input.

It sounds pretty simple.

  1. Measure output shaft diameter.
  2. Order correct clutch with correct V-belt pulley.
  3. Take your old crank pulley find a bearing that will fit in it them mount an arm to it.
  4. Find a place to mount arm.
  5. Mount arm so that it can pivot
  6. Find a correct length spring
  7. Mount spring
  8. Measure for belt
  9. Install belt
  10. Feed sticks into

Sorry, just a personal rule on trying to give free advice/help online.....

If they are a major arsehole..... I get to be blunt/rude......
Dude just back off like seriously. Do you have nothing better to do than come here and insult me? Really mature of a 50+ year old man.

I never once called you out of your name or insulted you. So for you to call me a idiot is way out of line.

Also to clarify, troy bilt tomahawk super is the model. All the troy bilt tomahawk supers are the same. I shouldn't have to draw a diagram to explain what I need done to someone, I'm looking for someone who either has done what I'm trying to accomplish or atleast be familiar with the components. You obviously aren't either so why you feel the need to hassle me I dont know. For the last time, thank you for you input.

So we can be rude over the internet, but then when someone calls us out we get our panties in a wad? Pretty entertaining so far. Saying thanks for your input after being very rude and condescending is like Ricky Bobby saying no offense and saying something very offensive. No one owes you anything on here. Better get a nicer attitude or you’ll have a real hard time on here.
