Yep and I think if it's anything like the 501p is in the 50cc class it'll be a winner!
I'd still like to try a 501p.

The 501p is one my most used saw. Light and zippy after a muffler mod. Agile enough to haul up into a tree no problem. It's usually the first saw I call for after I'm done with the 201t.

I almost bought one but I know I'd be half tempted to do all that. But then I thought about it, nope I'd leave all the crap on it. No way I'll run past the rev limiter in the cut so who cares. I also said I was gonna leave my 461 stock lol.

I just didn’t like the way some of the coils ran. I tried a euro coil on it, mtronic coil with regular carb, and all mtronic stuff. It never gained or lost much of anything.

Can a 460 unlimited coil replace a 461 limited coil? I've often wondered but have never asked or tried it.

Or that. I hope it isnt any heavier though. I might get a hang nail or something.

Those plastics look to be much more aerodynamic & hopefully not as sharp as the previous modes: I understand the 500 & 600 series are Sausage makers.

How does the 501p compare weight wise to a sporty 026/260?

Man I'm gonna be that old school guy. I'm still going to run all my old saws. I like my carbs, and no computer. For decades from now I still will be riding to the woods in my 1980 k10 Chevy. With my MS650 and back up 372xp.

Yeah because if you didn't watch it you'd cut your finger clean off on the sharp plastics. I heard it on the interwebz so it must be true.

Spent a lot of time wif an 026 in my hands. Thats probably why I like the 501. Reminds me a lot of an 026. Weights about 10.5# power head. I think it weights around 13ish wif a 18" tsumura light and tough wif .325

Hows the 501 performance? I have read similar to a 545 husky but I've never ran one.

That was a wrong Scandinavian video assumption on a youtube video where they compared an out-of-box 501 with 545 which was demonstratively re-tuned.
Actually 490 cuts approximately like 545. 501 is better and without any mods acts very similar to 260/026 but has an actual low end torque like 261. Sure, as most ECHOs it takes some time to run in and a slight tune to reveal the full potential.

The 501P is an awesome design cylinder, the tricky part is the the carb, much like the 5105 Dolmar. They are only used on those particular models and have a small Venturi, for porting it becomes an issue. As far as stock, they are a little beast. My local dealer has a demo one that I have tried out a few times, sweet little saw. Controls are very simplistic also, very popular with the older guys.

I also look forward to echo getting the bars in line with the huskys as far as drive link count in the future, @Onan18 knows more about that.
Yea this is very handy between the Husky and Stihl. I can just run 20s on them both and just grab a few extra chains for cutting wood. And I don't have to segregate on the wall. All dulls go on a nail and all sharp go on a separate one.
