What oil smells the best ? I tried some vp 40:1 premix and it smelled like a top fuel dragster, which i liked but dont trust it to really be 40:1 in my ported saws. I tried some generic semi sythetic oil mixed at 40:1 with e-free and it smelled like burning gear oil/dog crap.
If you’re just looking for smell anything with some castor in it. Deets is a big fan of klotz benol. I have some you could run that at 50:1 and be safe in ported saws. I’m actually using some 50 50 with husqvarna low smoke. The cheap stuff

As far as the husqvarna xp oil. I’m sure it’s great stuff I use the low smoke as I had a case of it. If it’s what is cheap next time I’ll buy it again. Works great everything is lubed I dig it.

Xp is just thier better blend.

Oh and the husky low smoke. I’m sure the xp also have stabilizers in them. That is nice as if the saw sits for months as mine do at times then usually I just pour the fuel out and dump in new. I haven’t had carb issues Just none really

Thanks for the reply. Ya this XP+ has stabilizers in it which is great but not much of a concern for myself. My saws rarely sit for any longer then 4 days at a time on days off. Otherwise it’s a 24 day shift, most days burning a gallon or more of fuel through them.

I’d run at least 40:1 in everything. I use 32:1 with everything as I did melt one saw down on some 40:1

Yeah I’d use the s hit out of some husqvarna xp oil at 40:1 at least

Actually what happened is my rod bearing got worn way out almost detonated.

My squish was like .18 on a 346. That extra play let the piston just tap the cylinder roof and stuck a ring My jug isn’t scoffed up.

But a bearing failed. Piston was dry on at least two saws I checked. After I switched all’s good in the hood

That’s why I hate on Lucas. Every saw I had was dry. It’s no miracle that things changed in 5 saws just by switching oil.
I have got to get rid of that stuff. I'm going to order some oil in the next day or so. Just going to buy cheap walmart Dino oil for right now to run at 32:1 . He'll I may stay with it? Of just go back to the husky LS oil I use to buy at lowes at 32:1

I guess it could be argued that I can’t tune

However I didn’t melt my piston into my cylinder a bearing let go. I took the saw down

Proof was in the pudding. Dry insides. I then pulled a couple mufflers. Dry cylinder.

Changed oil. Things have changed

Really ! HMMM. May have to make a detour over to the big city in the work truck. The town we go to from my house doesn't have an HD we only have a lowes. But the big town an hour away I am around more for work and I can swing by.
