condition: salvage
make / manufacturer: Husqvarna
model name / number: 385

Hi,
I have a chain saw Husqvarna 385xp (85cc) 28" bar and chain - has new parts and needs to be assembled. I had trouble starting the Husky and determined it needed a seal and crank bearing. Since the PSI was a bit low (120) I decided just to order new everything while I had it apart. The parts then took a while getting here and in the meantime I bought a new saw since I had a big oak that I really wanted down before Christmas.

I have for the saw:

a new cyl and piston

a new crankshaft

new crankshaft bearings

new crankshaft seals

new case seal

rebuild kit for the carb. (though it was fine)

Plus almost new parts I added the previous year such as clutch drum, etc. I kept everything in bags to keep the screws and bolts straight.

Just looking to clear up my unfinished projects and to get a bit of money for something else. Please, no crazy offers, I can assemble it myself and sell it on E-Bay for much more money like I did my 288, if I wanted to spend the time doing it instead of working on my current projects. I am basically selling the saw for $200 and $60 for the bar and chain. It is just if I put it together, I am going to port it and the muffler, and do other things while I have it apart. I rather just sell it since I bought a new one.

I have additional 28" chains (new and used) I would be willing to sell for a very agreeable price, bring some extra $5s, I think I have 3-4 extra.

If the listing is up, it is still available, so no need to ask.

Thank You for looking.

Don't tempt me!!!:p

I'm just trying to help a man out. I see that it has a new crank. Those are a known weak point for them. You could end up with a freshly rebuilt ported saw for half the price of a new one.

Did I mention how smooth they are?

You could buy it send it to a porter dude here and have one hell of a saw. I got a ported jonsered one of these and it pulls a 36 like nothing.
I almost grabbed up a 2186 a couple weeks ago, it wasn't ported though :(.

Wasn't the crank issue mainly on the earliest ones.

No idea. I was told when I got mine from Randy that they get grumpy spinning much faster than 13000 some odd rpms. And then I read about other rebuilding and needing a new crank.
Not a common saw here on the prairie for me to see first hand carnage.

How much was it going for?
Slacker.
I was working a double dip deal and I lost both, oh well, they will both come around again I'd bet.

Pretty sure the earliest ones had some issues, but I've also heard the same thing about keeping them under 13k. I'm not into running over 13k on a 90cc saw anyway, just not a need I have, not to say it's not fun though.

Iirc the coil is 14100 limited the saw is 4 stroking hard at 13200 and is spinning almost 11000 in some wet elm about 30 some inches across.

That's more rpm than I need on a 90, I just need it to have the torque to spin a 36 and mainly just for reach to keep myself out of some dangerous spots, yard trees can suck. I didn't even need the 36 this summer, worked out that I sold the 660 in the spring, the ported 70's do most everything I need, and if not I know who to call for the big guns.
