I have a honda eb2500 watt, it had a few hours on it and the engine ate itself,, still worthwhile replacing the engine, it works great. 1 ST honda engine I have seen that completely ate itself.
Have used it for some outages.
EX650 had for 20 years works great.
Yamaha EF1000 came to me dead for 20 bucks, cleaned carb and entire unit,,were good to go, its real ugly but works awesome.
Honda EX350 paid$20, needed carb clean and o ring. Its a funky little 2 stroke running 100/1
Sold as of tomorrow. And for more than asking because I held it for the chap.
It will fit in yer lunch box, 1st one I have seen

Honda EU5000i. Runs the essentials during a power outage and sips gas.
Honda EU2200i. The handiest thing since sliced bread. Supplements the EU5000i when needed and is great for off site power.
I really like the fuel efficiency and clean power of the inverter units.

I have a Honda EU3000 for essentials at the house and a Miller Bobcat for the well. It is ran off a different service, so I switch it at the well house. I can at least have water to cook and flush if we loose power! Looking at getting a LP Generac standby, but we don’t loose power that often any more. They can back feed our lines somehow if we have an outage.

All the inverter types are nice. I was looking at the CAT units the other day at a dealer. About $799 each and the parallel kit is cheaper than Honda.

That looks like a nice unit. If it has the same longevity as a Honda, it'll be a winner.
I was surprised to find that it's not just a licensing agreement for use of the Cat name, as a lot of the cheap crap on the market is, but a unit designed and supported by Caterpillar.
I can't imagine Caterpillar going to that much trouble and producing a turd.

The dealer I was at said they have a few out in the field and are having good results. I am like you, I thought it was some licensing deal at first. I will probably try one at work first, lol.

This is a solid unit. I have the same with a US Carburetion tri fuel kit.
Transfer switch, too...
Natural gas or propane qd hose thrown together.
No more gas lines!

I've had 6 or 8 of the Honda EU3000's they're an awesome little generator. Bought them to repair and sell or just resell depending on condition.

I've had several others that I've fixed and sold.

I keep a 3500 watt champion that I picked up for 25 bucks just in case of an outage. It'll keep the freezers and fridge cold etc. Really need to get something larger that'll run the well.

I got my old generator sold. It goes tomorrow. I fired it up for ten mins to run some fuel stabilzer through it.
When I start it and shut it off i always reach in and hold the throttle so it idles. I hate starting and stopping engines WOT. Does anyone else hold them on idle to warm up and cool down.

I also do this with the new one.

On my gensets when Im done I drain the tank and bowl.
So when I got to use it they start with no issues.
Almost all the ones I get dead is from gas sitting in the carb for eons.
No cool down cycle for me, I do remove the load and let them run for a bit or shut the fuel off and let it die.

I always run my splitter just off of idle to warm up and let it idle for a few minutes before shutting it down.
My Honda inverter generators have Eco throttle, so if there's no load they run at idle.

I've had folks tell me that small engines weren't designed to run at less than full throttle. Something to do with the splash lubrication. I've never had a problem with the way I start and stop mine, so I don't see a reason to change.
I also run them dry when I'm done.

Maybe they meant under load they aren't supposed to run under full throttle?

I can’t remember if it’s 20 or 25 KW, but it can run everything in our house and barn without much trouble. We only used to have to be careful when starting silo unloaders or the milker vacuum pump, that we didn’t start any other motors at the same time.

The 99 PTO horsepower tractor barely breaks a sweat turning it.
