I didn’t think my Ported 461R would either but it did both in a fat Poplar much better than I was expecting.

Accubonds might be a good bullet nowadays, but they used to dubbed “accubombs” as they were notorious for coming apart.

Mostly use 20inch here. I wanna be fast inside wood. So a 36inch bar just for fun to buy one.

But that is a ported 461 vs. a stock 462. Stock vs. stock my money would be on the 461 with a longer bar anyway but I could be wrong.

I think you’d be right either way because I don’t think this saw has as much torque as a 461.

However, with a light hand it will probably be ok in a pinch.

Besides being underpowered, I suspect the AV won’t hold up to the long bar longterm.

You know, cushy but no Bottom end.

Once 462 officially releases at USA the 461 will be out of discussion.

461 as designed, same as 661 has lot of flows. My big confusion was to wait 2 more months to get the MS500I or get the 462. Well Ms 500i also designed after the 661/461 series and I believe it will have heat problems. Even if the put the “hockey mask” as people already customize the 661-461 i m still not sure it will be adequate enough. Will see...

On the orher side 462 based on 261 2nd version might be the best design STIHL released in decades. At least 261 has prooved so far. And i also own one.

A 461 is much more similar to a 460 than a 661. The cylinder porting is the only similarity to the 661

The outer design is the decade plus old STIHL that why they get problems with filters and heat.

I mean the 462 and 500i share the same oil pump. The manual of the 500i allows bars up to 36“.
And mine oils a 28 very good

I heard from a very reliable source that this saw would oil a 31" bar just fine, but the 32" bar was just plain too much. LMFAO

They fragmented and separated from the core, it just didn’t hold together like they were designed too.
