Send it to a saw hack and make it extra spicy for cutting square wood.

I did that to my best looking 670. That way its usable but not really usable if ya know what I mean.

Good point. I grabbed with the idea of just passing it along. Same old story with all my other saws, I like it too much and don't want to let it go now. Lol
I hear ya on that. The best laid plans pave the road to hell...lol! Or in this case, another CAD acquisition ;)

Lol. Just being honest! It was a good deal.
Nothing wrong with honesty, what you 'pay' for a saw has little relevance to its worth or market value. Plenty of folks out there that are happy to pay very fair money for a saw like that should you decide to sell it. I'd not put any fluids in saw nor start it, put it in its original box, wrap it up in cling wrap & stash it somewhere safe & far from prying eyes.

To be honest it is a saw I did not even know existed, and therefore, I'm intrigued by it. I would like to see accurate details re weight + power.

Mike, this has the 50mm bore x 36mm stroke just like the 372OE. 70.7cc and advertised at around 5.5HP. And, it is a .4 of a pound lighter.

Not sure if the coil is unlimited. I believe @srcarr52 has built some of these and may be able to better enlighten.

It’s a 372 with a front tensioner and one ring piston. They strengthened the cases on the 372 which is where the weight difference comes from I think.

Still offering my address, I'd keep it nice and safe for ya.. That thing is booty-full!

If it were me, I'd send it to one of the builders that do hot square wood saws. Not 2 piece but as wild as possible.

Lol. Why not? I'm really liking it now. I can't believe how good of condition it is in.

I'm gonna let it sit for a bit and decide what I want to do with it. Gotta finish some other projects first.

You poor thing...how do you sleep at night? Lol

Seriously though, any person you ask will tell you what they would do. This isn't always good unless you want to be like them.
Take the saw, put it in the box it came in and put it out of your sight for a while. Now... you have plenty of time to think on it without it staring at you trying to get you to make a rash decision. Eventually the right thing will come to you and when it does the saw will still be there the way it was when you found it to do so. Don't let hindsight come to you after you did what someone else thought was good for you. Time is on your side.

Wise words, Steve. Where'd you get all them smarts?

It’s a 372 with a front tensioner and one ring piston. They strengthened the cases on the 372 which is where the weight difference comes from I think.

To further elaborate for anyone wanting to know, it's really just an early version of a 372OE. Front tensioner (which you can just replace by throwing a later clutch cover on instead), clips on the top cover are orange instead of gray, and the 372 added reinforcement to the case behind the bar mount. The single ring carried over to the 372, or at least the earlier models I've had or worked on. I certainly don't notice a weight difference between the two, but the scale does show a few ounces. About the same as the high top vs. low top filter setups.

Much more minor changes than the 372OE vs. 372XT. There are really no incompatible parts between 371 and 372OE.

Early 365s went through the same changes, along with other changes (early were open port with a different boot setup) but their name wasn't changed except for some seemingly random use of "special".

The Jonsered equivalent of a 371 is the 2071, 372OE is 2171, 372XT is 2172, and unlike husky they did change their 365 equivalents from 2065 to 2165 with the early changes, then to 2166 for XT.

Nothing wrong with a stock 371/372
Ran one about 15 Year's that way.
266/268/272/288 before that
Dropped and cut a lot of wood.
Stock saws is what builds the reputations
Of classic saws.
