A lot of frustration today. Was looking forward to running the Asian BB I'm working on, and instead waisted over 2 hours trying to get the chain brake to work. Changed out everything, then realized the brake flag, even though it fits, is the wrong one. Then I checked out the other one that did not work (that I thought was defective) and realized it was the same problem, the wrong brake flag in in the kit.

Don't know if these pics show it clearly enough, but hopefully they will help someone else from going through what I did today.

Pic one - good one is on left, on the right in other three pics. My other two kits came with the correct flag, I checked. So, 2 out of 8 (25%) came with the wrong flags.

Got another load of wood cut and home. About one or two more loads and will have my area behind shed full. Then need to put a row under back deck and row on front deck and should be good for winter.

Yesterday, large ash tree that succumbed to the Emerald Ash Borer, most of it had to be done from the aerial lift. Sun was just coming up when we were getting started.

I needed to use the SP125 with a 36" bar to get the main trunk on the ground and cut up.

It was getting dark by the time I got home for the day. Back tomorrow to pick up the rest of the wood and help with some more clean up.

Best I can tell from the photos is JLG T500S? Supposed to be a 50' boom, I was out as far as it would go including the "jib" in a number of spots. I took the 550 along but didn't break it out as I had other saws with me. If there had been different personnel on the ground I would have let them use it, but not the DD style sod cutters I had helping me...

In spite of being mostly retired since May, I am as busy as ever. Good news is I haven't had to travel outside the country since then.

Made 12 pounds of sausage from some Ossabaw Island pigs, cleared a bunch of brush, briars and saplings from a lakeshore. Removed a bunch of barbed wire fencing, delivered a cord of firewood to a nearby town and made Groundi supper. Used two different chainsaws today that I'm testing. (there was some log bucking in there too)

Picked up more of the wood from Saturday's activity plus a lot of clean up at the site, we must have made 8 trips to the brush dump with the Ranger. The young lady (homeowner at the site of the large tree) was almost in tears when she came home to find the yard mostly cleaned up. Very rewarding.

I did run the 550 today, very satisfying. I need to learn how to position the switch for a hot start but I am learning. I also had to use the SP125 to finish blocking up the rounds that were too large to maneuver into the splitter, zipped a few with the Dolmar 7900 as well. Lots of fun with the saw work, very tiring raking and shoveling.

I keep hoping I'll break the Ranger and I can get a nicer one but this one refuses to die no matter how hard I work it.

I've had 2 Ranges over the years, and liked them both. The first one was the 1st year they came out, and was very basic. Standard cab, 4 cyl 4 spd 2wd. The second one was a bit fancier, extended cab, 4wd, a V-6 and I think it was a 5 spd. stick. Unfortunately, it ended up on the other side of the ledger when I went through the divorce.

Been trying to burn a couple big stumps from trees cut down a few years ago. They are rotten to the point that they just smolder mostly. Been putting them out at night then building a very hot fire on top of them after work each night and letting them burn till I go to bed. Grounds fairly dry right now and don’t feel like building temporary fire pits around them. Don’t think they would spread but it makes the wife happy putting them out each night.

I watched a *pretty boy I work with kill his 4.0 ranger after putting synthetic in to it then not checking the oil level. He thought the knocking was his ps pump and replaced it then he found the dry dipstick. Some people I tell ya. It was a nice truck too before him.
