I'm building a wood / hay IMG_20181022_133959217.jpg shed and using metal for the roof, will be open on at least 2 sides, 11'-8' feet tall.

Is a vapor barrier needed??? Does it protect the metal from treated lumber???

I have never used a vapor barrier in that instance.
Wind running through it should keep it dry.

Thanks, kinda what I thought since not a heated or ac building, just didn't want to see the metal get messed up from pressure treated wood . I know that I don't need pressure treated wood because it should stay pretty dry under the roof, but I have those wood/ carpenter bees that invade soft pine pretty bad

You could always put some stainless washers between the metal roofing and the wood. It would provide a little protection. Piece of mind for you.

If you are concerned, buy a couple rolls of zip system tape and tape the top of your purlins.
And make sure your screws are rated for treated lumber.

The screws not being rated for ACQ lumber would be a greater concern than the painted metal to treated lumber issue. FWIW, the treated wood I used for facia boards on a small shed are getting eat up by carpenter bees as well. Also your dead load weights will be greater with treated. I would use #2 pine for everything except posts and bottom wall purlins if you are siding it.

The chemicals used in the pressure treating process cause accelerated corrosion on steel members. You can’t avoid the raw steel even if it’s painted or galvanized from contacting the pressure treated lumber, because you puncture the steel when fastening. Those are the facts.

Now for my opinion. Don’t worry about it. I don’t think it will be much concern. If you invest in any moisture barrier, I would put in on the ground and burry it with 4” of stone to keep it from rotting the bottom row.

It'll be fine. Steel polebarn siding is screwed to a treated bottom skirt board on most pole barns. I've never seen an issue

Just use a stainless steel washer between the steel roofing and the PT wood.
