Thanks Mason. Those 5 pts are big. I like the style of those 3 pt spikes. [emoji106]
The European style have 4 pt spikes? They are nice too.

I agree, they seem to take up a lot of bar space too. Maybe for them west coasters cutting thick barked fir its ok... but overly big spikes just get in the way in our neck of the woods here as you know.

Yup. Not a big fan of huge spikes. Other than looking cool, I personally think they jam up a saw.

I know some guys say but you don’t need spikes if your chain is good... some situations like felling cuts you have no option but to use them. I like resting the saw spikes on the log. Less effort wasted. Pulpwood... small trees... you don’t really need them however.

I did notice noodling wet poplar (a softer wood) the dumb metal chain catcher has a tendency to clog the chips. Hardwoods it has no problems. I think a roller catch would resolve the issue and may try bolting a stihl one on the 6421 spikes since they already have the holes drilled...

A roller catch made my 562 a noodling monster. It almost never clogs. It sucked before with the metal catch. Same problem as 7900.

Plus when you throw a chain with a metal catch it tends to F up the chain...
