I give up!

Hopefully it's just the new coil/control unit which they came out with. Which I see no difference in. Timed cuts the same. It actually runs 200rpm slower. And you have the new retarded reset/calibration procedure where you hold the saw WOT for 30 sec.
I think that new calibration system sucks ,why couldn’t they make it work like the original

You mean you have to piss rev it right off the bat when recalibrating it? Sounds like they ha e been listening to their piss reving customers.

Wasn't the early calibration just a reset to factory default but the new V3 ones actually calibrate?
I'm not 100% sure what the new calibration does exactly but id like to know the difference.
My new 462 struggled to even run out of the box but I got it to start on choke as per the cal process which would have put plenty of oil in there before it went to full full throttle.

This would just be the V3 Mtronic system installed in the latest 661 with all the updates. The flier is an attempt to relaunch the 661 after it developed such a poor wrap from users & industry pro's. Such a shame early 661's has problems and tainted Stihl's flagship saw as the latest 2018+ models seem to be great saws. Here in OZ OEM 660's in good condition are selling like hotcakes & fetching silly dollars. They should offer a standard carb model for those who for good reason refuse to purchase Mtronics.

I agree there should be a non mtronic version available.
I’m planning on buying a few parts and testing out a simple non mtronic conversion for the 661.

It's funny that "all new" can have a dramatically different meaning to me and whoever wrote that flyer.

They are just trying to overcome the bad stigma of the gen 1, it’s just too bad they didn’t update the air filter...and make a truly new saw, I like the 661, and at least these “updates” are compatible with the original
