Hey guys, I'm looking at a stihl 075av. The guy wants 300 for the saw a 36" and 48" bar. Just wondering if anyone knew the going rate for this saw used, running, with life left. I don't know much more about it. I've seen them going for around 300 up to 1300. I feel like the high end is a bit overkill.

Big honkin saw. 1110 & 1111 series were, if I’m not mistaken, early electronic ignition which were/are prone to fail and pricey when they do.

Me personally, I wouldn’t pay $300 for one, but I’ve also never run one, so maybe I don’t know what I’m missing?

They have some grunt, but cut slooooow and are heavy as chit. People who thought they would mill with one were disappointed in the speed. With extensive use of cast metal parts they are built like a tank, but the electronics are weak. I think Stihl had just switched over from points ignition at that time. Also the AV is rough, you wouldn’t want to run one all day. But if you needed a “big” saw for a one-off job where you needed to pull a 42” bar you could get and use it for just $300. As one to add to the collection I would pass just because it will sit more than anything.

Bars are possibly worth the money if in good shape, powerhead makes an excellent anchor.

If the bars were in real good shape I'd probably get a hold of the seller but they're not much to write home about, I'll probably pass this one up

They look to be of the hard nose variety.
Not mill friendly

Lots of unwanted friction. Hardnose is only about useful for cutting in the dirtiest conditions. And even then blowing out and replacing a nose sprocket might be better in the long run.
