oak cant, 28" tsumura, 9pin, 3/8ths Stihl RS, tree monkey 661, start temp prior to each cut 230F

I did this prior to the MI & TN gtg's. Just looking for an edge. :)

I ran fleet farm and BP for my gas again because they seemed to produce the fastest times in the previous tests. (see gas test #1 & gas test #2 attached). Then at same time I also wanted to compare mobil 1, schaeffer 9k, and honda hp2. (some of my favorite oil to use)

My thoughts - the thermocouple has proved to be much more accurate than the old Flir gun I was using in gas test #1 & #2. Live and learn. :)

slight advantage with the honda. this was the case in previous tests i've done

I think the real difference in oil is going to be in the ratio used. At least on the 661. So I'll have to get to that one of these days. Also how clean it burns, which is another test I want to do on all of the oil I have. (15 different)

Its good you got the thermocouple washer & digital thermometer. Are you using 'K' type leads? You should be able to run several at once if you wanted to test multiple things at once. Now on the subject of testing stuffs Redbull for under $20us you can buy one-o-dese thingies & find out how much the OEM's lie in their specs about dB ratings. And use the meter to find the sweet spot for muffler mods. 15394331119871067250410.jpg They have Bluetooth too so they can report to your phone. Plenty of functions 30-130dB.

Interesting test, thanks for posting your findings. I'm a big fan of Mobil1 2T Racing oil, as well, and still use it (got a stash before they discontinued it).

Do you run 32-to-1 all the time?
Same here but you can buy Mobil1 2T by the truckload downunder fortunately 40:1 in my 661 MMWS never an issue

Its very likely that all the gas in your area comes from the same refinery. For instance Cennex has two refineries. One in Montana and one in Kansas. There is no way they are trucking fuel from either of those refineries to your local station.

Great idea for a test Julian. I've been wanting to see something like this for a while.
I think it would be interesting to see a few runs with 87 octane compared to something closer to 100 or even 110.
The lowest octane clear fuel available in my area is 92.

I had no idea they reached 480 degrees that easily, sounds hard on the engine. What part of the engine exactly were you measuring?
