All you guys going through the D and I don’t mean Dallas, I’m sorry to hear.

My saw I’ll always be hunting for is a Sachs Dolmar Kms-4

I heard roomer there was one NIB around me from a dolmar dealer that closed 15 years ago. Not sure who exactly had it, but it was passed down to the son when the dealership closed.
My dealer has one hanging on his shelf, he said they only sold a few when new.
This one never sold and his Dad took as his own. He ended up with it after his Dad passed.
I asked him one time if he'd sell it and he said it will never be sold as long as he is alive.

I have never had the chance to some of the large classic saws so I haven't been hit with the desire to own and right now I am okay with that. I am waiting (less patiently) for a MS462CM-VWR to be released in Canada but I have a hard time putting a new upcoming saw on a "Bucket List". I have a few things in the works and I can't really think of anything else I really want right now.

My "bucket list" would probably be getting to a GTG and getting to know some of you guys in person.

Never even ran one. Just still have visions of it sitting next to my 115 on the dealer shelf 23 years ago. Went back awhile after and they were gone replaced with Stihl. "Nobody wants these. Stihl sells themselves because of the name. " Still get the same thing today. "What is s Dolmar?"

Should look up the video where randy ported mine. Saw was a beast.

We need a agree button.

Not many saws on my want list but a few on my want to keep list and a few more on my want to get ported list.

It's probably unlikely that I will be able to, but I would like to get to a gtg. I like your idea of making it a family trip. Now that might work, Margaret and I got hitched down by pigeon forge. If that's close to Randy's I might have a chance to work it as a family vacation too.

2-3 hr between pigeon forge and Cottle lane. Depending on time of day and traffic.

I've got enough saws for cutting wood, but I do like to tune engines. The stratos are definitely the best for picking up some power with the extra time/area on the intake. However, most are basically piston-port designs.

The Dolmar/Makita 6100 is a very interesting variation on the stratos, it has a reed valve in the strato section. The reeds can begin to operate as soon as the transfers close and a low pressure begins in the crankcase. This could allow the engine to breathe all the way through the stroke from transfer closing to the opening of the intake port (about 80 degrees BTDC). - Which is a period of piston movement that is 'dead time' on a piston-port engine where not only does mixture not flow, but a low pressure in the crankcase tends to slow down the piston movement.

The 6100 design isn't as effective as a rotary valve engine for intake flow, but it does have potential. I expect that reed inertia may limit the flow at higher RPM, so a thinner reed may extend the powerband. I've played around with reed cages before and I think I could re-work the reeds and cage to bump up the flow.

I don't know what it would take to maximize the reed flow, but it interests me enough to do research on different reed thicknesses from Polini and Malossi to get an idea what I could try.

Couple the reeds on the strato with an oversized conventional carb that I can mod to my specifications and I think it could bump up the power. Throw on a lightweight NK bar on the K095 mount to lighten it up and it could be a fun saw to use.

At this point, the 6100 is the only saw I would put on my 'bucket list' to add to my stable.

I'd like to get a cheap one with a roasted top-end. I could take the ruined jug and try a few tricks to it. After looking at the piston flow pattern that has been published on this site, I'd like to see if I could put a rear 'boost port' in the cylinder to eliminate the 'tongue pattern' on the piston. I've had a few ideas, but until I've got the jug in my hands I won't know that they're viable.

It would be really cool to get 70cc power out of the saw with a lightweight NK bar on it. The extra 15% cutting speed would put it up there with an 80cc saw. - A nice lightweight saw with balls.

If I spot something for sale, I'll let the wife know what it is when it arrives....
