Are you finding significant gains in the 462 Randy

That remains to be seen Todd, but from what I've seen so far, there are good gains to be had from simple mods. I've been too busy yet to do any serious testing against the stock saw I have here, but.....we've got all the GTG stuff cleaned up now.

I'll be sending Reed his 462 back soon. Thankfully, I've got another 462 here that I'm going to be able to keep for about a year, and I'll be starting on my winter of weekend cutting soon. To me, that's the best testing, real working conditions.

I'll be on the hunt for another asap, I like having a stock saw for back to back comparison.

The only think I could think of was to increase flow combined with the new vertical opening baffle they are using.
That would bump power but keep sound levels down.
I cant think of s single advantage once that baffle is removed.
My plan is to ditch the baffle and open the outlet somewhat, matched with a high flow screen.
Then square out the exhaust port and see if it makes any difference.
Id be interested to know if Scott tested muffler mod on its own or went further but he never seems to want to talk to a silly Aussie who just has the odd simple question :)

Taking the baffle completely out might not be the best idea. It's got a bazillion spot welds, and seems to be adding a lot of strength to the muffler shell.

On taking the outlet back.....there really isn't enough material there to get it back to what we are used to seeing.

About the only difference between a 460 and 461 coil (performance wise) is the limiter, and it does not impact "in the cut", just makes it harder to tune by ear.

They both have timing advance (or start retard), depending on how you look at it, and you can swap them and performance will be very similar.

my paypal is

if we get 2 ties and cut them in half we could come up with a 4x4 (add to what we have now... a 3x4)

we bought a roll of chain, a bar, and built a 3x4. and have spent a ton of time. I'd say we've made it for the team already.

Julian, the vast majority of us really appreciate what you and Scott contribute, keep up the great work.

I got so many tests I want to do in my head, and even know where the wood is to do it, and I'm semi retired and I can't find the time. Work, Grand Kids, House Chores, the Fish + Game Club, rainy weather, Fire Wood, Milling … It never ends!

There is just not enough time in the day or days in the week!

But I'm not buying new chain for each of the 7 (newly running) saws, or swapping the same B+C on each of them, just don't have the time for it. If I do get some time, may just run each of them with what they got and see how it turns out. Very non scientific!
