I've heard both ways on that. I bought this one second hand so....... It has been through walkers shop, but if it is their porting I can't confirm with 100% accuracy. But whoever put the recipe together did a good job and I'm impressed.

Steven
I've heard many call them ported, but only seen a muffler mod and the base cut, which will spice up a 372 nicely.
Pictures of the muffler please :D.

My 7900 with a few basic mods any idiot could do was a tick faster than a well ported 460 fooling around at a gtg. That opened my eyes. I doubt a 462 or 572 is faster. It is kind of unfair from a displacement standpoint to compare them however. The dolkitas are decievingly fast. They feel slow because they are so smooth, but the cut times showed otherwise for me. But what do I know? I could be wrong. Lol

Are you comparing your 7900 with a short bar (and maybe race chain) to my 460 with a 28" bar in a little cant???

I'll race you in a real log any time. My 460 is a beast in real wood.

Cant racing is more about chain and technique.

What pin rim were you running? Likely not a 7!!!

I only cut firewood. And yeah they usually have a 7 pin and a 32" bar. A 20" is silly on them. My 2159 and 600p take care of the mid size 20" stuff. Most of what I am cutting is large and I run the 7910 and 372 because they are a good bit lighter at the end of the day and still pull a 32" respectfully. I like to run the big saws as little as possible.

I don't have any pictures of the really good hauls, but here is a couple examples of the average stuff.

I am by no means a racer, just want to get the most wood cut in as little time as possible without injury.

He is referring to mine Mike. But he is a little confused.

I'm married have three kids four and under. I'm always confused and stuff.....

But hey anyone wants to come by and show off their fast saws. They can cut as may 16-20" thick cookies as they want at my place. Come on by and tune your saws in a few weeks I hope to have a few good piles of logs to work up.

It's been through alot. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Good thing that those kind of hauls are usually only a few miles down the road. Can't load it like that and go down the highway.

Ive gone through two trans, transfer and front diff using my burb for work like that. Surprisingly the 10 bolt is still in one piece.

Lots of long stories about that burb. But it has well over 200k don't know exactly. Has never had a major breakage. Easily the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Took it on a 2800mi family vacation this past September. After hauling a bunch of monster loads like that I didn't even think twice.

Engine oil every 4k trans every 25-30k t case at the same time and difs allways topped off and changed once in a while.

We just bought a 2013 xl to retire it from the long family trips. Only reason was it was a deal we couldn't pass up. The old '99 is going to be around for a while yet.

FYI, Jeff was referring to Mason's post, not yours.

24" or larger sugar maple ..run em!

I've always wondered how my worked over XPW would stack up against a 7900/10 on equal footing in terms of mods.
Very close, 372 seems faster in smaller stuff but in larger stuff the 7900 has more torque. The 7900 and 1128 stihls both need there oilers modded for longer bars in hardwood imho. 372 oils great. Just my experiences.

Walkerized isn't ported from what I know.

Friend of mine had a Walkerized ms461 for a while, muffler was modded, and piston was notched, did not have any machine work done on the cylinder.

Maybe they have stage 1, or stage 2, etc stage mods, not sure?

All I know is what we saw on that "Walkerized" ms461....and the ports or squish band had not been modified.
