If I was to do it over, I'd either buy a new 572xp or a Dolmar/Makita 7910 as the 572 is a sweetheart, and easier on the ears (with protection, of course) and the 7910 is essentially an 80cc saw. 8ccs of displacement makes a noticeable difference, and the overall ergonomics may be the best of any bigger saw I've ever run. They're slightly less durable from an abuse and wear/tear standpoint, but otherwise they're a terrific saw. I have yet to run the new MS462 though, so the jury is out, but it's the same displacement roughly as the 372 and the 572.

I like my saw for about a tank and then I'm ready to run something else. The Dolmar or the 572xp, I'd run all day happily.

The 5 main varieties that I cut are Honey Locust, Red Oak, Hedge, Hackberry and Ash. I cut plenty of other things form time to time, but those are the 5 I intentionally go after. The Super Split Special Edition makes short work of almost all of it, as long as it's less than 24" because the opening will JUST allow 24" on the dot. 20" and less works better, though size-wise, I've busted 28"+ rounds with it. The black dually has been sold and replaced by the white on in my avatar, but other than that no much has changed. The 562 laying on the small trailer has become one of my favorites to run, even though I have plenty of options in the barn to pick from.

The MMWS 346 sitting on the Splitter is an angry little bastard too!!

Currently the lineup is a MMWS Dolmar 9010, a Stumpbroke 372xp, a 562xp with a muffler mod by Randy and warranty work by Terry, a MMWS 262xp, a muffler modded MS261, a MMWS 346xp, a muffler modded and de-comp deleted 550xp, and a stock MS201T. The 201 I will fix this weekend, between the muffler, carb and timing. The 261 will also see a timing adjustment soon, though won't get ported for now as my Brother is supposed to inherit it from my Father (we have a joint interest in the equipment), but we'll see. I'm honestly surprised how much the 201, 261 and 562 punch above their weight. The rest I expected to run as well as they do. I do a decent amount of bigger Oak and Hedge trees, 28"+ DBH, but a lot of the trees in KS don't fight for light the way they do in more dense environments, so regardless of the height, there WILL be a lot of canopy to deal with, hence the smaller options. Other than I don't really need one, a ported MS241 would be a fine addition. I may be picking up an Echo SC2511 and having it ported though, again, for the ease of use for the smaller stuff. If/when I declare a dedicated business, I'll need a grapple bucket tractor, a trailer to haul it with and possibly a Power Split Int'l single splitter with conveyor and I'd actually be in the black, time-wise.

For cutting a log pile..... I'm missing the xp's ! The 450 is great for roaming around the woods...and cutting needed firewood at a leisurely pace .
Not ideal for standing at a log pile lol !
The 450 is getting it done non the less !
And a beautiful day to boot :)

Possibly in the foreign markets, especially the 2nd tier ones. Apparently in Brazil and a few other places, you can still buy a lot of big old monsters that are pure unobtanium around here now...
