I wanted Alex of A. E. Metalwerx to make me one, but unfortunately he could not get to it this year. Had so settle for a used one. Iron & Oak Commercial, fast cycle and auto cycle valve.

I bought a rugged made. Rated 37 ton with what I believe is a six inch ram. 4 way wedge and a log lift with a 15 horse motor. It came to a little more than $3,300.00 shipped with all the oil and the battery for the electric start. You have to put it together yourself but it seems to be the best bang for the buck. I've split about 4 cord with it and I am impressed. My arborist buddy split about 5 cord with it and ordered his own. I guess he liked it... And he is picky about his equipment.

I looked at the Rugged Made splitters, but couldn't find enough info for me to have better than a guess as to it's value or application. If you have a chance, post a video of it in action. I'd be curious to see that.

I guess you got your pictures and video! Lol. They are out of Massachusetts and seem to be a small outfit. They advertise on AS and have for a while. I originally found them on Craigslist a couple years ago so they have been around at least that long. When you call you get the guy who originally designed and built them before he sold out to the gentleman that is in the video. He is very forthcoming with information on the product and I believe he said it was designed very similar to the timber wolf tw6 without the adjustable wedge. When I got mine the plug to the tank drain... which is the axle... Was cross threaded. They bought and sent a tap, new plug and threw in a complete tune up kit for the motor including oil change. It was inconvenient for me but they were very professional about how they handled it and the owner called to talk with me about the situation. As I said above my buddy who is really into his equipment and always modifying things was impressed enough to buy one! I can't speak for longevity but it seems to be a great product at the price. You'll pay close to two grand for the larger units at lowes and Home Depot so it seemed like a no brainier! Hope this helps someone that may be in the market for one.

The RuggedMade line does look like a good bang for your buck, especially when considering the customer service. I'll need a splitter as soon as my home is built in rural NH. They just moved to the top of my list.

So They Are American Made?

If So,

Well except for location.

Yes. Built in a shop out of rockland mass. When I talked to the owner on the phone he told me he had actually bought a bobcat skid steer from the dealer in my town in Maine. I would say that was keeping it local! Lol

If/When I hit the lottery or truly declare a wood business, I'm thinking really hard about a single station Power Split. I really like the engineering from an ergonomic (read that: 4-screws in my back with more possibly to come) standpoint. Standing really is the way to go.
