Livin' the dream! If I spied a good deal on one of those it might just come home with me. I'm trying to talk my best friend into getting one in .243.

Ok folks, the 6.5 should be making some noise soon. I had to buy dies with one paycheck, brass with the next, and bullets with this one. Planning to start with IMR 8208 since I have a can that needs to be used and I'm not going to judge accuracy until it's broken in. This is a new rifle and I want to give it a good barrel break in. What would the accuracy gurus here recommend? When I had the .257 rebarreled I followed the procedure recommended by E.R. Shaw. It was something like clean after every shot for the first 20 rounds, then clean every fifth shot for the next 30 rounds, then consider it broken in.

Damn you guys!
I've got 500 virgin 22-250 cases and I've been doing good, resisting the urge to buy a rifle so I can load and shoot some of them.
I've looked at getting a 6.5 Creedmoor as well but haven't succumbed to the urge yet.
You guys are making it damn hard, on both accounts.
I need to stay away from this thread.

I shoot them. Clean after the first 50 or so. Then I cleaned twice up to 600 rounds total through mine. It finally lost accuracy around 580 and was cooler fouled.

Ok folks, rolled up some 6.5's last night. 30 grains IMR 8208, 140 grain Sierra Game King, CCI primer at 2.75 OAL. The data says this should be good for 2300 fps so basically .30-30 power level. Hopefully I can try 'em out this afternoon.

Took the 700 out this evening and put some rounds through it. First five rounds I cleaned after every shot, then I cleaned after every other shot. This wasn't really a formal sighting in, I was just getting on target and and acquiring a feel for the rifle and round. No bench rest, just sitting on the ground with shooting sticks firing at 75 yards. One pair of shots landed 3/8" apart so there is definitely potential here.

I don't turn necks on any of my ammo. I'm sure it helps, but my shooting abilities are not good enough to take advantage of it.

It's an HR survivor. It has a HUGE gap when shooting 45s because its chambered for 410s too. Everyone says they shoot like crap, but I'm holding 1.5" groups at 60yrds. I just started using cassul cases and 300g Lee pc boolits loaded to long Colt specs. They work great.

I'd turn yer necks if you had a Foragefarm.
I got bit by the 6.5 bug early. The .264 Win. never came about so the 6.5cm was the answer.
Despite the availability of good ammo, I'll be outside turning, inside reaming, some .243 brass/some Lapua for 6.5cm.
For the love of reloading...
I'd be finding the most accurate seating depth reloading yours now. Later, you could find the accuracy nodes.

All in time. Usually takes me a few years to figure out what works best.
The last gun I had a great load worked up for was my Axis 223. It was a tack driver at 200yrds. I swapped my dad for his youth model of the same gun and it sucks with that load... Lol

The folks on the 6.5 Creedmoor FB group were giving me all kinds of hell about using 8208 in this cartridge, apparently it is not politically correct to use anything but Hodgdon 4350, and especially bad if your load gets under 2700 fps. Just to raise their blood pressure, I'm going to keep doing it!

Every rifle is a law unto itself, it amazes me how so many folks can't figure that out. The 6.5 snobs all shoot expensive heavy barrel rifles. I guess the possibility that an inexpensive sporter *might* shoot better with something else violates the laws of physics. Matter of fact, the Nosler manual says that IMR 8208 is the most accurate powder they tried for this cartridge.
