I’ve recently decided to adjust my string trimmer, Stihl FS 56 RC. Come to find out it has hex head needles...with really tight clearance I can’t get my typical sockets in. What’s a good work around tool? I was going to get the Stihl screwdriver Q-SW 8x200 (5910 890 2420) but then I looked at a BR600 I’m just starting to rebuild and that has a different screwdriver (5910 890 2307) I didn’t think Stihl even did this, so I’m a little shocked right now. I don’t want to run around buying one off tools for these things.

@backhoelover is our resident oem stihl tool expert as he has just about all, if not all of them. I don't know what they look like so I can't even begin to help. Perhaps he knows of something else that will work or can be modified to work for you.

I cut those things off on a 600 blower with a cutoff wheel on a dremel carefully.

Those are 4 mm hex and you use a thin version or a deep well six point that is worked down the outer shell to slip in. Note these are available 8 pc tool kits on Amazon. Might want get if you do a lot 2 cycles as you will needing the small single D and small PacMan too. Many Zama rotary carbs use either the flat blade or the single D.

I have all the Pac-Man and splined ones, I’m upset Stihl started doing it too.

Did the small Pac-Man in your set work? Mine didn’t

You will also need a 2mm Allen for some of the newer stihl saws to make adjustment

Tnx for the heads up on that one.

And answer your previous question my small pacman has worked fine. Just didn't like the large pacman as my older fits a lot better. I even adjusted a Kohler carb the with my old pacman.

That’s why you should always buy Husqvarna. I hate seeing a Stihl come in the shop they are just harder to work on.

I’ve recently been asked to help with overflow from a few local saw shops & repair of local Authorities & EMS. I like to keep up on my tool supply, can anyone help with any new or upcoming tooling I may be missing?? I may have a rebuilt Stihl I’d be willing to trade for a couple latest tools.. some 8 sided carb tool.

Example of one of the saws I’ve built from scratch for a local hometown hero. Haven’t been on here in forever, been in FB forum “Chainsaw Repair”

PM me if help is out there. Back to work building an excited owner of a Husqvarna dealership a minty 200T, presenting Hometown hero his saw & picking up another that his Sgt needs a going thru..

Busy busy... Need anything, I’m always here or FB forum to help.

Hero’s rebuilt Stihl 036 he knows he’s receiving, the other 044/440 is a surprise, both free of any charge while he recovers. Gotta heat his house I’m sure, my boy attends school with his sons. We’re getting them cutting firewood young.

Would also love to talk Stihl saw to M-Tronic equipment, already have software..

Just better off buying one if the 10 pcs Chinese carburetor tool kits. Just a few bucks more plus you get a carrying pouch. Yes I know some of the tools are poorly made fit wise which why I threw are a couple of the tools away as I already good ones on hand but I had got a nice carrying case in the deal.

New Stihl dealer only carb tool, EPA mandated is 8 sided Octagon interior so “no one” can adjust a carb (or dremel it to flathead). Read somewhere, $15k fine if dealers caught selling in US

Not included in Amazons 10 piece specialty kits of course.. Look up part number below, you’ll see the difference in the 6 sides. We’re doomed now huh lol
