The 670 i saw earlier in this thread was a runner for sure.someone went back in for more and found it. What were your final numbers. Im curious if i can get my last 670 to run like that one.

My 670 is stock never timed it new oem nos piston, rings, and bearing. Refreshed the bore deleted the base gasket and here we are. Oh and normal seals and rubber stuff was done also.

I hesitate to give numbers as without the machine work and port work, ignition timing and muffler modifications being identical it's extremely hard to get the same results. I will say that when I "went back in" all efforts were in the exhaust both the port and the muffler was all that was changed. Take a look at your "ripper" numbers and try and emulate the best parts of them would be a good place to start. You can see which direction the exhaust port is headed... ;)

How bout i ask a question this way......? Are my ripper numbers closer to what you ran once you were happy? Or were they closer to stock numbers of my 630s i do have a spare 630 jug and a few 625 sets and 1 real nice low hour 670 set. Id rather try and port the jug that has damage above the exhaust and transfers before the real clean one. Heck if the exhaust goes up around 100 and blowdown around 20 it would likely all be removed. Its nice to see these old cinder blocks getting some love. I feel they run very well and still be competitive/productive saw to work with on a landing or as firewood production saw. Ive ran up to a 28" full comp .050 before on a 630 with nearly no trouble to speakof. Just kept a simewhat gental hand on it and she did just fine. My old man had borrowed a neighbors beat up 460. I had them both pretty equally sharp and i could cut right with him.

@Czed Here's your saw again Dave.

This two part cut report was a little different than the last in that the saw didn't need reworked but rather needed a proper working part. The carburetor just wasn't tuning right from the get go. Adjustment screws were all goofy from normal and I think especially compared to the second video it can be seen that the saw was lean and not making "true" power. There was actually a third step not shown where an AM carburetor was tried and it too failed to deliver had a whole new set of tuning issues and just wouldn't come out of its funk. I looked over the original carb again and could only come to the conclusion that the last guy rebuilding it tightened the adjustment screws too tight ruining the seats as I can find no other issues. The saw received another pressure vac check to make sure no other issues were involved, passing with flying colors the carburetor was still the prime suspect. A brand new Tillotson HS 260A was installed finally and even from the first fire the difference was quite notable. A rudimentary tune was applied and the saw sat a few hours while it rained to let the metering diaphragm get used to having fuel on it. A second tune was done and the saw ran great, sounded and felt like it's ready for work. I feel much, much better about the saw now, as it's just not right to pass the buck off onto the owner imho.

Installed a FarmerTec 52MM big bore kit on a 2071 Jonsered firewood saw today that had low compression problems. Have had this new P&C here for some years waiting for the right conditions to be used. So after the assembly process was done with new filters and such I installed a 24" bar with round chisel chain and after an initial warm up and RPM check noodled some red oak. Saw had a good amount of pull and revved up just like a 372 type saw should. So in this particular case I think we have a winner in the Chinese lottery. Now, the next question, will the replacement I order be like one that is a few years old??? I kinda doubt it.

The only a few suppliers of duplicates ive ever gotten from the aftermarket. In my limited experience its from a large supplier that likely buys from the same place. Like from stens or rotery or little red barn. Alot of little red barn is very good and years ago some was still casted with tecomic markings. After lots of research leads poing to lrb aka performance saw supply bought a bunch of tecomic molds and since have removed the logo. I have yet to have any imperfection any worse then oem p&c's.

I would hope lrb has gotten better as it was the only way they had to go. I give them credit for doing some odd ball stuff you can't find anywhere else. I have to say I was completely turned off years ago from poor quality and haven't been back since to see what has happened with them.

After getting a lrb 046 piston that didn’t even fit the small end rod and used the wrong ring size I can say I’m probably not interested in trying one again. Meteor and hyway I had good luck with.

Had that exact problem with a p41 piston from them. Probably won't bother for a second try.

Out of a couple dozen kits
One of the 50mm 372 ft kits
lost some plating
At the bottom of the cylinder.
No other harm it's 150s comp 268 flat top ft piston
I ground on the bottom of the cylinder
Could've been my fault
About a year on it now.
Didn't like the hl supply kits

This was the right saw with the right guy to use it on, if it goes bunko, I can just fix it betterer with no anger issues. Started saw up this morning before it went away and all seems well. No issues idling/tuning that some Big Bore kits encounter. If they only all could be like that...
Also noteworthy, installed the kit just as is, did not make modification one to anything.
He's going to be using it in his firewood pile soon, so we shall see...

So i put the 50mm on it last
You'd think it was a brandy new saw
The way he goes on.

This was a fun project making a Husqvarna 340 into a fun/limbing saw. @Dub11 had the original vision for this saw and passed that onto me. A used 346xp cylinder with a Meteor piston with a FarmerTec cylinder base was utilized. New bolts were needed from a 350 to hold the pan to the crankcase as well as 346 cylinder bolts. The ignition coil from the 340 was used as it is already an unlimited coil. Nearly the entire intake track from a 357 was used the only thing was saved was the on/off/choke switch. A new 346 boot and metal clamp was used with the 357 ring shoved in it. New carb bolts were needed to hold on the carburetor all was topped with a 357 mesh filter. A FarmerTec muffler was installed with a larger outlet welded in place of the original. A support bracket was modified with one leg cut off. The cylinder was worked over with the band and base cut and ported. It has no problem running at 15,000 rpm and is just over 14,000 here on the vidja set for break in. It also has a new narrow kerf bar and chain and surely could cut faster with a chisel tooth square ground chain. I look forward to when it breaks in should be a really fun saw then.

Looks like a feisty little bugger, always nice when a plan works out so well. I'm sure you will enjoy that saw knowing what you did to make it happen. I'm working on another Asain 440 BB, always trying to improve a bit!
