So do you pull up a lawn chair behind that rig Jeff?
Lol. It is great for square filing. I am working on making a convertible adjustable receiver for it. It works pretty good for now. I just back the rear wheels up on a couple of cookies. LOL
Raises the vise up just perfectly for filing.
A little Kentucky windage.

I like the portability, just don't like the thought of sitting on the ground or kneeling to file a chain. Generally if I'm take the chain off because it needs filing I'll just toss on a new one and clamp my used chain in the vise when I get home. I'm pretty much set up to where I have enough multiples of each loop that I can just build up a pile that need filing and do a few in the evening with a barley soda when I get bored.

It really isn't that low. The photo is deceiving
Back the rear tires on 2 2x8's and it's almost too high.

I'm still missing if you're sitting or kneeling or what. I like to file standing up at the bench under a good light. One of those memory foam mats makes it pretty comfy. I just don't see a vise that low being pleasant unless I was working from a stool.

A 5 gallon bucket doesn't make a bad seat to file chain with .My kids got me a John-Deere bucket with a lid that is most likely 7.5 gallon with a top .Toss the files, wrenches spare chains in it ,sit on the top .

I stand when I file. I will get you a better photo.
I am 6ft tall and it works for me.

One of the nice things about that vise is the mounting sleeve (see photo in post#81); you can mount it on almost any surface, as well as use it in a hitch receiver.

Anyone familiar with Yost vises?

Would like to see a pic of the Reed vise.

This is the vise @longleaf was talking about...
Reed 206R. Jaws are 6" wide and opens up to 10 1/2" while still having full engagement in the nut.

I have a smaller Reed mounted on a homemade tripod that I keep under the lean-to for doing heavy grinding. Keeps my dirty shop a little cleaner that way.

Neither one has a lick of paint. I just try to rub some boiled linseed oil on them occasionally.
