So now what
Anything that can be done?
Poor Gunther
Poor Steve

Sent from Hoskey Hills

Going to see what the Vet says. Not much can be done other than an expensive operation and that has to be done really soon if it's to work, if he's capable. Might be if he has functional utility's he can live in paralysis. Or I have to go dig a hole for him.

I'm very sorry to hear that Steve.
Trust I know how much he means to you.

If somebody sets up a surgery fund I'll be glad to donate. Anybody that will help Jon1212 should surely be willing to help Gunther

Not a good morning here, awoke to a Dachshund with a broken back. :(
they are prone for back issues, sadly.
I've had the dachs hund dog for ruffly 20 years, all 3 of mine had back issue, once, or several times.
If Gunther can somehow walk but unstable I wouldnt recommend a surgery first, corthisone pills and rest can do miracles, my two last ones went through that cycle and it wasnt their back who put them down in the end.
I would only consider surgery if Gunther is lame, or it return more frequent, dunno how old he is, knowing it also mather due recovery.
If Gunther get a good prognose Steve, there is several steps who will improve his recovery and also strenght up his back, let me know how it turns out and I'll gladly help as much as I can.
I care about that race, me think they're the coolest living creatures on this planet.

At the Vet now and waiting for blood work to come back. Lyme's and heart worm is a possibility. He did attempt to walk and one side not so good as the other. So hopefully back is okay possibly, not sure yet.
Keep us updated Steve...my heart sank in my damn chest man when I read your post earlier.

This is some sort of chitty deal for sure. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best possible outcome. Hang tough Steve. Little man is lucky to have you in his corner.

Gunther says thank you for the well wishes and he's going to be a sick pup for a while with Lyme's disease. This is what's causing his paralysis.(we believe) Hopefully he will perk up in a few days taking the medication he got today.
