We have em here, but they haven't gotten out of hand yet.

This summer I was in west Texas at a ranch doing a ELR shoot. At night they'd start howling. It sounded like thousands of them out there.

Very eery

And they can be a half mile away and sound like they are in the back yard. ( I hate coyotes )

AMEN to that!!!!!! So glad we don't have those bastards here yet. Until some S.O.B. decides that they need to import some here.

Rumor has it they've tried to introduce cougars in our area a few years back. Of course the DNR denies it. I saw one picture on a trail cam of my neighbor about 1/2 mile away. Im not sure what else looks like a 100-150 pound cat...

Same in Pa. never seen one when I lived there but everyone talks about seeing them or filming/taking pics, DNR denies it and won't open or look at film. Never seen proof but anyone that spends time in the woods knows someone that seen them somewhere.

They just not going to be happy until ALL the game is gone, That way the antis will be happy because there will be NOTHING left to hunt for.

A few years back, my wife and I saw a Mountain Lion one morning, on our farm. It was less than 50' from us. When I talked to the local conservation agent about seeing one, he told me that I must have seen something else and thought it was a Lion, because there weren't any in the state................he also told me not to shoot it.

That is exactly what Michigan DNR did, deny, deny, deny. Then last year they finally confirmed Cougars are in both peninsulas. Too many people had trail cam pictures, paw prints, droppings and a few road kills. Cannot shoot them either, legally.

Well, I guess you can't get in trouble for shooting something that they claim doesn't exist

Over there
You guys have some smart ranchers out there.

Years ago they introduced wolves to the Upper Penensula here in Michigan. Of course they were protected. The population has now gotten so out of hand that they have literally wiped out the deer population.
My neighbor has several hundred acres up there for hunting property. They used to have a ton of deer there. He has found piles of up to 20 deer that the wolves have killed and drag onto a pile.

The last two years he hasn't seen a single deer on his property.

The snow gets too deep for the deer to run and their legs sink in, the wolves run on top of the snow.

Sure you can, I am not going into that now, Happened about 14 to 18 year ago. And not good!!
If I shot it, I wasn't planning on telling them.

When I used to run bird dogs in field trials, we had a big field where we'd put out
Birds for the dogs. The Red Tailed hawks used to sit on the power lines and watch. They'd occasionally get a bird before the dogs got to them. One day, one of the competitors got pissed and smoked a hawk. The conservation dept was there filming the event for an educational program. It didn't end well for the shooter.

There was one actually killed about 20 min from my house on a wildlife management area. The guy was on a deer hunt. Of course it made the front page of the Georgia outdoor news. So the ahole dnr decided to hang the guy since there wasn’t a season in Georgia. The reason the wasn’t a season is because they didn’t think they existed.

That sounds about right. For years our conservation dept has denied the existence of Mountain Lions and black bears in Missouri. After a bear was hit on the highway and a lion was killed by a guy protecting his animals, they reluctantly admitted that they've been around for a while.
And the conservation dept wonders why they have no credibility.
I wonder what the purpose is, in denying the presence of these animals?

Wow, that is pathetic. I am on the same page as you -- what is the purpose of denying the presence of these animals
to the public and to land owners who encounter them and their activity is a threat to live stock?
