Hey gents. I'm not dead, just not in saw land these days.

Time to store for the summer...thoughts?

Keep mine In the workshop or back of the wagon, pretty much the same place as when it's cold. Doesn't go much below freezing here but summer can be 40°c+

I bury mine in the back yard when it gets too hot out.

I usually don't "summerize" my saws, except running the gas out. I even keep one or two with some gas, as today if you are using high quality gas and oil, the chances of varnishing are minimal over a couple of months. If you are storing for three or more months, I'd just run the gas out, try to start the saw several times and then dump any remaining fuel out from the gas filler cap.

I just run them dry and clean them.
I worry more about the cold weather. Iv gone out to the shed in the winter and seen frost on my saws.

I generally drain fluids/run dry, clean them up and park them in the basement during the summer (way too hot for any serious firewood work here anyway). Should the remaining scent become offending to my better half (hasn't been a problem to this point), I'll probably just place them in a large storage tote, which is easily stored in the basement as well.

Said system works just as well for winter storage.

Been here 20 years and still forget and am amazed how hot it is. I went outside Sat afternoon to grill and get in the pool. I stayed in the pool except to check my steak. So hot just the ambient air, not even the sun, feels like it's burning your skin. Everything you touch or walk on will burn you instantly...except grass. Has amazing cooling...

Maybe I should do something, but so far no problems. The mixture that is left in the tank just evaporates out and I get extra oil to lubricate the innards when I next gas up.

I spend a lot of time getting the saws dialed in, but after that I just run the things.

It gets warm here in summer too, I just keep using them. No dramas.

I try to remember to loosen off the fuel caps on one particular brand of saws when I put them in the shed after work when it's hot, or they tend to vent through the carb & I get fuel everywhere. Other than that, nothing really.
