Well it's time for a new trimmer and would like some opinions.I have looked at a Sthil FS 56- RC-E and a Echo srm225 and both will be from dealers and not from a box store. What does everyone think?

I looked at an Echo, almost bought one, didn't like the non adjustable carbs.

The Husqvarna are adjustable but if you don't have a good dealer then that may not be a good option. The 129l is $199.00

I’d be looking real hard at the echo lineup. The echo 266 is the most indestructible trimmer I have ever seen. I used to work for a landscaping crew at a private school and we abused the living crap out of 10 or so 266’s. Good power and torque for tall stuff and edges easily. I own a shindaiwa 242 myself and it’s a solid trimmer, I like the wider guard on it better than echos.

I prefer the steel driveshaft if you plan on mounting a blade. It’s most likely more durable for blade use. If not using a blade then cable is fine.

I’d buy the echo 230 over the 225 as well, always buy more than you really need. Same goes for any piece of power equipment.
