I recently acquired a Dolmar 9000/9010 parts saw but it is missing the serial tag. Is there an easy way to tell if it's a 9000 or 9010?

There are several differences but beyond my knowledge.
Ignition coils and carbs kinda stick out but i'm not sure
what's what. I will let others that are more in the know
than me chime in.

I recently acquired a Dolmar 9000/9010 parts saw but it is missing the serial tag. Is there an easy way to tell if it's a 9000 or 9010?

One easy to see clue is ...the 9000 will have a button on the rear handle to put the saw on "High Idle"...most 9010 moved away from that (2010 ish I think) and had a Tillitson carb set up.

Today picked up a little Makita saw for cheap. The ad said it wasn't running and may have bearing problems. It had a new power match 3/8 Ko95 bar and good chain so what the heck.
The saw has low compression at 130 psi. I pulled the cylinder and the P&C look great but the ring is very weak. Maybe it was over heated.
I'm not sure what the model is. It has a 44 mm single ring piston, open port cylinder with no divider in the transfers.
PN 020 131 104, The carb is a Walbro WT-76A

The ID labels are all but gone but I can see part of CS 52. I think I have it narrowed down to a DCS 52 or a DCS 520.


Is there anything that would identify the model between those two saws? TheWT carb would be on those two models according to the IPL but that cylinder number doesn't show.

Not a big deal but it would be nice to know.

No pics as I forgot before I scattered it.

It's missing the clutch cover and the bottom end is locked tight, so I think I'm going to pass it along.........

Have this 6401 wif a 54mm NPW AM top.
You guys think a 385 piston from a Meteor would be a nice fit to port it for mill work? Building it to be a long bar saw for beam cuts.
