Started out thinking I would just cut this tree today.

Fell it with the little 51, even though it has no gunning sight. Snow was up to my knees and crusty on top, hard to get around.

Placed the strap with a double rolling choke. This helps the log clear the stump.

Notice how the choke spun the log after being pulled.

20180321_190008.jpg Can't stop a thief but maybe slow him
Down for some golden sabres to find him.
Need another one just for my 372s and 261 stihl20180321_190156.jpg 20180321_185034.jpg don't get me wrong i haven't lost anything in the 5 year's I've been here.
Before here i had stuff stolen from my old shop.
But a guy a few miles away took in his methhead son after he got out of jail.
And he is trouble.

Got it drug up far enough to limb the top and...
IMG_20180321_131159362.jpg

...an interruption happened. The town boys were cutting some trees down close by and stacking them by the side of the road. So cut and hauled two trailer fulls home, all oak and maple.

IMG_20180321_171652753.jpg

So I got out a little bit more firepower in the 266xp and just cut the part of the log protruding into the driveway.
IMG_20180321_155625209.jpg

Didn't have to noodle much and they split in two easily. Was pretty tired and decided to pack up and finish later.

Gunther was tired of hunting, so we rode home in Hurdy Gurdy Girl and called it a day.

Looks like you had a good day, and got a pretty good wood score.

Nice anything dry enough to burn.
I drop ash it's good to go.
Amazingly hard to cut but shatters when split.

So far the bottom of this one is wet and frozen like a rock. Might have to go in next year's pile. I know of one that the top fell and half is still standing, that one should be dry hopefully like the last one I cut. Been burning it just fine.

A guy on Facebook posted a vid
On a 51 with a 028 piston
It landed at 210 comp
And was impressive.
