Oldest granddaughter, Tyra, 15, is into old vinyl albums. So, daughter and both granddaughters went to the other grandmas house this past week north of Chicago for spring break. Grandpa, now deceased, used to be a party DJ and had a lot of albums. Tyra came home with Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. I'm sure some here remember that one, I grew up on it.
We're listening to it now on my stereo. (To give it justice). And I'm thinking.
Really?
Seriously?
I'm getting old, I don't remember it this way.
One of my very first records. That and Live at Folsom Prison were my first two records, in 1968. That's cool to have it come back around the generations.

Wait 5500 gross trailer weight?
Most 7k trailer have between a 4,800-5,500K useful load (7k being the max GVWR - trailer + load). The 14K dump trailers depending on bumper or GN style, only have about a 8-11K useful load, depending on the model. Once you figure in the weight of the double frame, the hydraulic equipment, cylinder, etc, that all adds up quickly.

Farm usage is one thing and there are things you can generally get away with on county roads, that will NOT fly on many public highways and interstates. The County and State guys are trying to make people safe, but it can be a PITA for Joe Farmer or Sawyer just trying to get crap done.

Does one of the axles have a brake?
Both will. They're putting one on the second.
Maybe I should have gotten a 14' dumper instead, but this was only $2K, and the truck was a serious expenditure, so I need to take the rest of it slow. Part of me is worried I won't get a tree license from the city, being as old as I am. That would make this an expensive gamble. I have people calling me already to do tree work, and I haven't even really been getting the word out.

Yep that is a fact. We hauled a 980 cat payloader bucket we rebuilt to the steel mill and crossed the scales at 54k lbs with our 02 dodge 3500 and our un floored 33' gooseneck trailer we were building at the time. Good thing dot wasn't around!

That's Hell of a deal then on that trailer. I think you'll get that license.

Yes PITA. I get pulled over about once a year for road side safety inspection.

We went to the public library this afternoon. They have a kids play area with a toy train. Looks like other parents had the same idea.
