I wouldn't think an entire not running 700 would fetch much of a price .If it ran of course it could fetch more .Then again in might have something to do with the geographical location .

Does anyone have a good piston and cylinder for a PM700 that they would sell? Thanks, Jess

This is a pm700 cylinder not a 10-10 like the auction says. You can tell but the long cooling fins by the exhaust port and the lack of a bridge in the exhaust. The PTO bearing side is also larger to accept the bushing around the bearing. The coil towers also except both electronic coils and points coils.

God, what happened to that cylinder?

I'm working on fixing a PM700 parts saw I got. I've found most of the parts I need, I took a compression test and it showed 100psi, seems like it has more compression than that, so I checked another saw and it also seemed to be reading much lower than what it was the last time I checked which wasn't even a tank of fuel ago. Its a new compression tester so I'm hoping its the tester. I know that has been a lot of discussion on which testers work best for small engines. Anyways, I found NOS Piston assy, and figured if it didn't run good I'll swap the piston out and likely be fine. I just need to decide on whether to run a NOS Mac 24" or keep it hanging on the wall and put a new bar on it.

There you go @Steve ha

Don't think I'd even get that NOS 24" bar dirty tryin' to run it on a PM700..., (though I do have a 28" on one of my 10-10's -- LOL).

I was falling it to the side as falling it into the lean was not an option ( would have snagged on another tree). Plus they hang on to the stump longer if you fell them to the side.

I don't worry too much about what a compression gauge says. If it starts easy and runs with good power then compression is sufficient.

What kind of Mac bar are we talking? Have a pic?

That's what it looked like, but that's one helluva side lean to overcome with that one little wedge..., at least with the limited view of things in the pic. So did it go where you wanted it to go? Doesn't seem like there woulda been much holding wood to keep it from favoring that lean and still going 'forward' at the same time.

You could run a 24" or 28" on a 700 but I think a 20" is about all it needs .IMO over 20 is 850 sized stuff .Unless you don't want to bend over so far bucking on the ground . Just for giggles I tried a 28 on a PM 610 .It pulled it but it didn't like it .Kinda put the grunts to it .

It's hard to tell from the pic to see the whole thing. The tree was heavily weighted to the side I was falling it. The lean wasn't as bad as it seems in the pic but it was a pretty good one. Went right where I was aiming it.

Probably strait gassed and then the plating rubbed off. Then it sat in a very damp environment for 20 years. Mac had issues with their plating towards the end...

Its a 24" Slim Line Mac Bar, there was a batch of them on ebay recently. I'll take a picture tonight. Came with the original cardboard, the seller stuck shipping stickers all over it but they came off easy enough with a heat gun.

The bending over is exactly what I'm trying to not do by running that bigger bar. Most of our trees in the interior don't get big enough to bury a 24" in anyways.

Funny story about when I learned that there's such thing as too big a bar. When I was about 17-18 My dad gave me a Stihl 08s. I thought that thing was the most badass saw ever and was convinced it needed a bigger bar, I went down to the Stihl dealership and bought a 32" or maybe it was a 30" bar for it. I thought I was pretty cool once I got that thing mounted up, took it out and tried to drop a fairly large birch tree, it came down, eventually but there was a lot of bogging while I did it. Not sure what I was thinking, I swapped it back over to the 20" roller it had and still have that bar hanging in the shop, worst $100 I ever spent. I still have that old 08s, shes pretty tired now but I wouldn't ever get rid of it.

Steve - SP70 and PM55? I found 4 or 5 NOS reed type mufflers for the 70 cc saws when I was looking for an PM700 muffler last weekend. The SP70 and PM700 are different in that the PM700 has a boss for the top screw in the muffler to attach it to the saw, the SP70 use the screw in the center of the muffler.

Sorry Mark! CP-70 and PM-60. I built the pm60 from parts and all I had was a yellow af cover at that time. Is correct black now. Those two were my favorite 10 series untill I got my 7-10 running. Now the 7-10 is my go to!
