I always thought the 362xp was simply a 372 bottom end with a smaller top end and small mount setup?? Seems like it would be considered underpowered for it's weight and handling?? It was 62cc actual displacement, correct?

That’s exactly what it is

362 and 2163 are all small mount as far as I know, 365 and 2165 are large mount. My 2163 now has a brand new ported 365 special top end on it, 65cc is the top of the 4 cube class, @rattler and I ported mine in January, we set the numbers for a 20" bar, runs amazing so far, plan on it being my main saw this spring to break it in.

The 362s were all small mount, same crank as a 365/372, different top end. Only 62cc and a dual port but they are snappy, a stock 362 turns 1000 - 1500 RPM more than a 365.

I think what @XP_Slinger and @RIDE-RED 350r are forgetting is the FACT that the “Squatched 55” is gunna make em both cry and make them wish they hadn’t “messed with Sasquatch”. Debate over. :campeon:
Unless you grab my 357 and put a 55 sticker on it you’ll be walking away a sad sad little puppy dog...lol!

362xp was a small mount early and then went large mount later in the run. So there is 362 large mount saws later.
So not all 362 are small mounts. ;)

Yes you could put any top on them 362 365 372 etc.

I built one from 2 bare halves to just test one out.

Let me drag @cobey in here. He has some experience with both I think.
Stock a 254 seems to have more torque
I have a stock one that doesn't give anything up to at least one ported OE
But.... it' probably different with different saws.... both pretty cool, both winners in my book :)

254, year 87, OEM jug, thin ring piston, 0,4mm gasket, 020" squish, pretty much close to stock with a 0,5mm gasket, but those jugs had a very little compression chamber......
_DSC2186.jpg

I like them just as much as I like 262's....maybe a tad more also.

Except those 4, there is two other Mahle out there, and one KS with decomp:

The one who gives this insane compression is stamped the same as the one left bottom, 86.

Great info as usual Tor thanks for sharing! I’ll have to look back in my 254 build thread, pretty sure it has a Mahle cylinder but I don’t know what stamp it has. I tried no gasket in it but as I expected it was a head slapper so no go. If I can’t find good enough pics of the cylinder I’ll take a look at my Saw tomorrow. I do know that it pumps up to about 175psi. That is if my memory serves me...usually doesn’t lol
