Saw leans out after 2-3 seconds.

What am I missing? Fixing to try a new filter. Carb is clean, metering lever set .010" higher than spec. Saw came in lean siezed due to a bad FW side seal. New top end, new seals, new rubber. Cranks, runs, idles.

Go to test in the wood and it pulls well. Piss rev it tunes to a nice 12,5-13 and then after 2-3 seconds leans out and bounces to 15k plus. In this video I leaned the low side a bit to make sure it was not pooling or puddling fuel and just clearing that out. Other than the slow return to idle, makes no difference on the high side. (I know the low is a touch lean in this video.)

Tank vent? Fuel pickup? USC the carb even though she is dang clean inside?

My dealer had a saw with an air leak once that he said he couldn’t figure out for the longest time because it passed pressure/vac testing and they replaced all kinds of stuff. Ended up being a hairline crack in the bottom that only opened up enough to leak when warm. They only found it when an old mechanic told him to fill the cylinder with gas mix and let sit. It seemed out the crack.

May or may not be it but just food for thought.

There is a fixed jet in the body under the metering diaphragm. It supplies fuel to the main jet and low side circuit. The high side screw fine tunes. Make sure both passages are clear.

Do you have another carburetor to try?
China clone carb...that's my next step. If it at least changes it I know where the issue is.

The 066 and 660 has to have the big filter, part# 0000 350 3504 last time I bought them, got a dozen back before they stopped using Media Cat. I have not found an AM filter that can flow enough fuel without removing the inner filter media.

Look at the video again .When it gets reved up the engine rotates on the suspension system .It might be a torn intake boot caused by a faulty AV mount .They tear on the bottom side where you can't see it unless you remove it .

Happens to me a lot with the 036 I build. They are on the edge of what the carb can supply.

You are emptying the metering bowl faster than it will fill.

The pin is stuck, lever set wrong, line not supplying fuel at WFO.

Always the carb for me.

Did you say you did check/replace filter Jimmy? Someone on here recently had a problem with an AM filter not passing enough fuel through.
I vowed not to go in the shop last night...but while dewatering the dog I was talking on the phone to a buddy. He said something and I asked "Have you seen my bench lately? ...Neither have I!" I wandered out and spent 10 minutes putting c rap away. I chucked this damn saw on the bench and planned just to knock the B&C off and be done. Well I got a wild hair and said let me look at that fuel pick / filter. I am embarrassed. I had already decided to go through piece by piece as to avoid a shot gun and not know what exactly the issue was. My personality say I want to know what/why/how etc. If the pickup wasn't the issue it'll get another set of new pick up lines. Then we will try another carb. The carb looks new inside and the metering side is set with a Walbro gauge... diaphragm is soft. I had this feeling it was stupid simple... and I hope it was.

The pick up that came out. Note it looked white until I opened it up.

Now I never knew these things come apart so while frustrated... I've learned again. More knowledge to tuck away. New filter in and go again today if I have time.

Keep playing with them... you'll get some that aren't the carb. Been messing with small equipment for 30 years...I've seen some weird stuff and sometimes it's so simple I over think it. First thing I did on this saw was raise the metering lever a touch even though it was set by a gauge before. No change at all.
