I’ll be hunting for a 272 once the 262 is done.

Let me know if you really want a PROJECT 272...I got a box

Man I’d love to make you an offer but I gotta chill for a little bit. I’ll be starting my 262 build soon and if I get another project I might get some lumps from my wife...lol:smiley_1140: between you and another member my 272 project is all lined up:)

OK guys, carb question. I have a Tillotson carb, only number I see on it is S216C423. Josh tells me it's a governed carb and showed me the brass fitting that houses the governor. Should I disable the governor? Is so, how do I go about doing that?
Hello Joe. According to acresinternet the 216 carb belongs on a 181. The 228 goes on the 281/288 saws. Does yours have the "roller" style of linkage or a wire linkage? 216= wire linkage, 228= "roller".

Nail on the head Dale. I knew the carb came off of a 181 but completely forgot about the 281/288 using the roller. Dammit...sorry Joe

No biggie, two options here.

1: 501 91 86-01 (Throttle shaft w/ roller) $10.99 as of 01/12/2018

2: 501 80 55-01 (Trigger, 181) (NLA but I believe one from a 272 will work. 501 51 80-02 $7.99 as of 01/12/2018)

501 81 43-01 (Throttle Link) $6.99 as of 01/12/2018

Oh and Josh and I compared the old style starter on my builder to the new style on his runner. I prefer the looks of the new style and plan to get a new OEM unit being they are only 20 bucks and swap the guts over. Now without stripping both starters, Josh and I didn't see any obvious differences that would dash my plans. Is there something we didn't see that would prevent the swap?

We could just swap the guts between yours and mine to figure that out next time we’re in the barn. Tomorrow?

Sorry for having a conscience :asz:. Lol
Well lemme help you with that.... you gave me an AWESOME deal on that builder regardless of anything!! Better??? :D

Even if I decide I want a brand new carb, I'm still more than happy.

Speaking if which and just in case in the interest of options, is there a Walbro that works on a 288?? I scored a new Walbro WJ for my 394 for a steal on ebay last year because it was listed as for an RC airplane rather than a chainsaw carb.

Would have to have Shaun mod it for the roller, other than that yes it will work. Or we could try the mod ourselves, be good experience

What, a Walbro WJ??

Oh and I know I keep saying this, but the more I keep sourcing parts and thinking on this build the more excited I get about it. :D

The help that has come out of the woodwork has been humbling. :) I'll be paying it forward any way I can when an opportunity presents itself.

HOORAY 288!!
