I was sent a newly developed MS660 piston from Hyway for testing.
I was honored as they said it was the only test piston sent to Australia.

Today I got out to compare it with an out of the box stock Hyway piston,
I had a little oil pump trouble on the 2nd run but you get that with a china saw

Anyway, I was quite surprised at the outcome.

Very cool. Did you check squish with the new pop up piston? Seems to have made a meaningful difference. It seemd to hold rpm well with both pistons but just a little better with the popup. Nice work

I didn’t measure squish but I did check crown height with both mounted on the one pin and they were identical heights

Correct me if im wrong in thinking that you mean that the squish area of the piston is same on both pistons? And that the pop up portion protrudes beyond the top of the stock crown height. So piston is truly like a welded popup piston and not a machined in one. Very nice if its like im picturing it to be.

Wow Brewz, AWESOME detailed testing!!!! Your saw sounds good!!!!

:campeon:
Thanks mate.
The saw is a Chinese copy running a near stock cross performance top end.
I have raised the exhaust from 104 to anout 101 and reshaped the exhaust roof but that’s it.

If you look at the wash on the flat piston when I take it out in the video you can see that the pto side upper is opening before the flywheel side so I plan to go back in to correct that, lighten up the piston a bit and open up the windows and also change those rubbish clips for OEM.

See how it goes then!

Saw sounds and runs well. Good simple review that shows differences with just a piston swap. Does though kinda make me a little ill seeing a clone run every bit as well as my OEM saw that owes me $1250. Good Job!
