What do you like about your preferred saw/brand

Many of us are guilty of brand loyalty, which prevents us from seeing or knowing what or why people like about other saws. We never buy or try anything different out of our comfort zone, so for better or worse we may not even know what we’re missing. Just wanted to hear what makes a great saw for you, in your mind, specifically.

Rules : Opinions are allowed, but be specific, and you’re only allowed to mention positive things about your preferred saw or saw manufacturer. No negative bashing of the other brands.

Outboard clutch on husky/jonsered saws. IMO it provides a narrower, smaller feeling saw. Plus I believe they handle better

I don't have a favorite manufacturer, but i like that "bad attitude hot rod feel" of ported 3-series XP Husky saws. Most complete saws to date in my opinion, they had prefiltration, slim bodys, good handling, spring av and flawless engine design without a poppycock inside. But i'm german, i like Stihl's also the pro saw haptics, plastics and build quality are over the top! (Deep in my heart i also love Dolmar's )

I like McCulloch because of their innovations. I also really like the way the 10 series look. They also sound like no other!

Honestly I mostly prefer huskys to run and use. It's a feel thing and the air filtration is top notch.

I do have a few sthil's around and a couple of echo's. A bunch of old poulans. A mix of jred's a couple of big Macs. One makita and a partridge in a pear tree.
Come to think of it I need to cut that tree down.

I have north of 60 saws currently of many varieties. Dolmar, husky, jonsered, stihl, mac,etc. My absolute hands down one-saw plan would be an 1128 series Stihl. It's a toss up between an 044/440 vs 046/460 for me but it would be one of these saws. They're durable, well balanced, easy to service and plentiful, so, good parts availability. They have a really nice broad power band. You can really heave on them and they keep chugging but they really turn some rpm too. Easy to mod and respond very well to simple mods. Good spool up and trigger response. Aside from slightly stingy oilers and frequent air filter cleaning, I have zero complaints about them. They just feel right to me.

I like my Dolmar/Makita. I like them because their different and after using one, I loved the feeling of them in my hands. No local support is the draw back but @fordf150 keeps me connected it there is anything I may need. I don’t have a lot of repaired once I go through a new aquier.
I sold all my Stihls but one older 044 10mm that’s got a spot in my heart as it wasn’t fire saw.
I’m also partial to Husky 372’s and 385 and Jace a couple of them. They most resemble the Dolmars in handling and feel to me.
Smaller saws I’m a lover of 5105’s as the feel like a big saw and not a toy. Lotta power in these ported and have 3 running 24’s with 3/8th full chisel, and 2 with 20’s full.
I like cutting with others running other brands as they can’t believe how good the Dolmar/Makita run as no one knows a thing about them in my area. Just my little secret!!!

For me to date it's a 044 or 460 Stihl. Weight to power is great. Pull 25" bar full comp bucking and ripping oak and such. Those 2 are my work horses.

Stihl is my first love...can't decide which is my favorite. Have a ported 064 that's a beast, ported 12mm 044 and ported Hybrid. Love them all! Started trying some Husky's and think I'm really going to like my 346! It will be ported by spring!

I like those bent handles on husky’s. Just seems right. I’ve got some love for the two series.

Dolmar is my favorite brand, ironically I don't own one at the moment. Love the AV, oem spikes, best full wrap handle geometry (in my opinion).

For me its my stihls availability of a dealers / dealer support /,availability of used oem parts verses other brands/ inbound clutches make it easy to change sprockets/they make the best climbing saw on the market/ chain tensioners are in case verses in clutch covers/ two ring pistons verses one ring / torx screws that are self locking less chance of them vibrating out/ the best chain on the market/ i have many favorites the 200t/ 026/ 261/ 036/ 361/ 044/ 441c/ 460/ 461/ 064/ 650/ 066/ 661/ they just seem strong to me other manufactures are merging being bought out going out of buissness but stihl is like a timex there on there own they take a licking and keep on ticking, whats gonna happen when you need parts and these other conpanys are out of buissness.

I like huskys, 2-series espcecially, cuz theyre what i grew up with, first saw i ever used was a 272xp. They just make sense to me, very durable, lots of parts around.

Your right....Sarah has a little Doc Al ported 026 that Rattler built. It's a fun saw to use!

What got me into husky is having a good dealer 10 minutes from my driveway. I have come to prefer the ergonomics and overall compact design of huskies. 2-series are my favorite to work on and play with because of their simplicity and typically durable design. Big fan of 3-series saws for power, AV and they are still pretty simple to wrench on.

Im Not brand loyal. I do really like my echo cs 520. It is the first saw I baught brand new not including a little poulan years ago.
Next is stihl then husky.
