Just thinking a bit differently here. Is it possible for different brand saws to run better or worse on different oils? For example, if Husqvarna runs good on RA, but RA doesn't run well with Dolmar?
Please don't get upset, I just used the analogy for an example.
I like all the saws!!!! [emoji106]

Not likely. Maybe different size ones though. Like a 30cc husky vs 90cc stihl. Sometimes the super small stuff like weed eaters are more finicky than a saw

There’s talk of the 7000 being good but let’s actually see some pictures to back up that theory.

Lets see it after 100 tanks

I've done take downs after running 36" 404 on 661's for generally 8-15 tanks on the following oils:

red armor x 2
honda hp2 x 3
mobil 1 x 3
Belray Si-7
Amsoil saber
Klotz original techniplate x 2
Klotz super techniplate
Belray H1R
Schaeffers 7000 x 3
Schaeffers 9000 x 2
Dumonde
Yamalube 2R
Motul 800

IMO Nothing has been cleaner than schaeffers.

I've seen the inside of scott's 440 and 64/66. The 440 has over 1000 gallons of gas (schaeffers 7000 32:1). And it still looks cleaner inside then any of the others mentioned above after only a couple of gallons of gas.

You can talk smell, cost, color, msds, theories all day long. But the 7000 is the cleanest. It's thin so yeah I'd run 32:1.

If you want I will start PM'ing you pictures of every take down I have done.

All that said I still feel the best way to determine the best out is to do the oil test I want to do.

So it seems to do well in the 661 autotune, would other autotune saws benefit? Have you milled with 7000? The thinness might worry me milling or is that a non issue? It may be clean but does it protect well? Just questions I’m wondering.

Does cleanest equal the best? Maybe, maybe not so much.

I'm still using K2.[emoji16] I see little wear with ester rich oils, this is what I want in the oil I run.

To be honest in many of the 661 pictures the piston skirts looked more polished than I like to see, and the cylinders didn't look great either. Is this the oils fault? Does the 661 have other issues going on?

Discuss.

Wear is my question too. It be interesting to see the results regarding a tcw3 oil compared to a fd rated oil back to back and see what one wears more.

Yes 661 auto tune. But 440 and 64 hybrid obviously aren't auto tune. Others...Well Scott has used it for the last ~20yrs in EVERY kind of 2 stroke he owns. All 32:1. No problems. He may be a dealer but I would guess that it accounts for well less than 1% of all sales.

If his 440 has 1000+ gallons on it. I'd say that it protects well enough? Keith made it 2 or 3 tanks on klotz super techniplate before he stuck a ring. I caught it in time on my saw barely. Lots of people in here were saying that was the best stuff ever. On paper it looks great. In practice it sucks in a chainsaw. (at least in keith's and mine)

Schaeffers impresses me so much I started running their 5w-20 in my cars and they do run better. Start better in the cold that is for sure.
I didn't see anyone claim Super techniplate was the best and I never recommend that oil, it makes a mess and always has most oils with castor do.

The Shaeffers looks clean but that's not everything, to say the least.

The wear in the pics of the saw running Schaeffers was not impressive, however the cleanliness was, I'll give it that.

Try this. Smear some oil in a cylinder using a non ester oil see what happens, the oil will run off pretty quickly. Now try it with an ester based oil. You can actually see the oil cling and spread out over the surface. Are ester based oils perfect! no, but close.

My advice. Run whatever you want.[emoji6]

They do it pretty much in one tank on the intake side like the 372 xtorq
