I just wanted a 395 i didn't need it. I am plenty setup for firewood and other cutting. I enjoy going in my woods or to the log pile with different saws. Hell I've gone down there with an 090 and 60in bar. I didn't need to use it I wanted to.

I need a GFY sticker for this 18" tree niney fo.:p

EDIT: I just discovered that I was running an 8-pin instead of its faster 10-pin set up.

I was comparing both on the 18" round and forgot which one I left on it.

Never ported a saw but like to give it a go. Should I lay out skirt measurements and widen intake and exhaust a bit?
Well, there are several ways you can do it. But I would highly recommend you get a degree wheel and learn how to determine port timing with it if you don't already have one and know how. Once you do that, you can make an informed decision for your target timing setup and get busy making some changes.

Keep this in mind, I've seen some more experienced hands at porting than I say "if you don't have time, give it area. If you don't have area give it time".

It's alot of fun digging into this stuff and starting to learn the hows and whys. I still have alot to learn myself. The biggest thing I can say is don't just jump in there and start hogging things out. Get some advice from builders willing to share it (I don't know of any who hang out here that are not willing to help with advice) and go from there.

1mm up and 1mm down works pretty good. Widen and blend the lowers on it. For an actual work saw being started 20-30 times a day I prefer no machine work on a 395.
