Not saying but my oil dude tells me the Lucas is the same oil in both bottles. View attachment 106231There’s another bottle that claims fd rating. I’ve used it. Didn’t like it.

Dude is an oil distributer. That’s what he does for a living. I could care less honestly as I won’t use either bottle. I like about everything else Lucas puts out. My ported 346 ate *s-word using the other bottle.
A tcw3 oil might pass FB, but FB is a standard from the 80's. It also might not pass it.

Guy does know his *s-word. Also told me shell rimula and rotella are the same. Sold me to switching to rimula.

The Lucas I used is pretty thin stuff. The pic above is the bottle I personally used.
Saw stuck a ring. Could be coincidence..... other saw that runs great looked awful dry through the exhaust port. I’m now bashing oil......

Isnt Scahffers 7000 tcw3? Doesnt Schaffers make a premix oil that isnt tcw3? Why in the world use their tcw3 oil in an air cooled engine when they make a synthetic premix oil made for a saw thats air cooled? Tcw3 pours out of a bottle like water
Because it's a semi synthetic, it has certain characteristics that aren't found in full synthetics. Many guys prefer a blend over full

Lucas is good oil. The injectors and pump on the diesel likes it!
Agreed. I think Lucas makes great products. Just think they may oughta stick to Diesel engine additives. And injector cleaner. And tranny fluid additives. I love their products. Felt confident seeing their name on the two stroke oil too. But.....

Arent there plenty of blend aircooled oils? Why use a tcw3 in an aircooled application? o_O Why just not use the correct oil for the application?

I highly doubt they are the same stuff, but a quick check if their MSDS sheets would confirm.

I tried Lucas
Tried sooo hard to like it too
It sucks !
Dry, dry, dry inside, even at 25:1
Left one saw sitting for 3 weeks and found the piston corroding where it sat in the exhaust port.

I’m using the rest of what I have as assembly lube. I actually gave away 2 gallons of the crap2016-07-10 07.14.59.jpg 2016-07-10 07.20.19.jpg2016-07-10 07.20.30.jpg

I actually squirted mix into the port just so I didn’t pull the cylinder off while it was bone dry
