I'm not sure what the point is in speculating... only time will tell how the saws perform in the real world, and how well they hold up. They both look pretty good on paper, and which saw is "better" will probably just come down to personal preference and/or brand loyalty (mostly brand loyalty, to be honest). Hopefully both companies did enough homework and r&d to bring decent products to market.

One thing that I would be interested in knowing, is how much the saws cost... I'd like to try one of each, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to afford either of them. :(

I don't cry about a pound difference in a chainsaw...you tulip lol.

Hey tough guy, when I was your age I didn't need no 50 or 60 cc saws! If the weight did not make any difference, you wouldn't own them ... case closed!

This here video is from a very respected pro logger who also does port work. He knows his chit, the sheer amount of knowledge he has rolling around in his head is worth your time. The part I'd like you to hear starts right at 21:24 where he talks about the 6202 vs 6203 bearings. "They (the 372xp) are pretty bullet proof. Probably the weak link in the 372 would be the small drive-side bearing. Its a 6202 instead of a 6203, which these two (Dolmar PS7900 and Stihl MS461) are fitted with. They both have the small bearing on the flywheel side, which is pretty normal. Like I said, the weak link in that saw, for me, what I've noticed over the years is the drive-side bearing. If you have a failure, that's generally it."

Running a long bar, you put a lot more strain on the drive-side bearing, especially if your chain is dull and you're trying to push it. Husqvarna is addressing that weakness and beefing up the bearing. It isn't groundbreaking new or different, but they are managing to do things like lighten the flywheel and shave material to keep the over-all weight down.

Also, right at 20:35, he mentions the Dolmar anti-vib system. "The spring mounts are kind of weak. If you're not a finesse kind of guy you might be tearing those up a lot, especially if you're running a long bar and trying to horse it around."

Just thought it was relevant that the old Stihl design was a rubber bushing, and now, like Husqvarna and Dolmar, they are moving to springs. The question will be is it floppy or stiff, and how they hold up to long bars.
That's true, it doesn't make alot of sense to use a smaller bearing on the side that takes all of the work load of pulling the chain. Makes me wonder why they did that... It doesn't seem as though using 6203 on the PTO side couldn't have been done.

There's no need to argue boys. Both saws will be plenty good enough for fans of either brand. There will be plenty of arguments on these sites, though very few in the real world. The reason is because the stihl guys will buy the new stihl and the husky guys will buy the 572. There isn't very much crossover in the pro world as the brand loyalty there actually exceeds what we often get with threads like this. There are always a few guys who try the the other brand now and then because they are pissed at a particular saw or a dealer. But most of the time they will return to their favorite brand. It honestly doesn't matter to me a bit how good the new stihl is or isn't cause I'm going to sell a ton of 572's regardless. And the 572 isn't going to mean squat to the stihl users either. What they DO all have in common is that are all anxious for the new stuff. LOL

Pro guys don't disect the saws down to the small details like we do here. They are more likely to talk about how many feet they are getting out in a day, the price of timber, how deep the mud is, which guy is holding up the operation, etc. (true story: local logger tells me they were worried about one guy who wasn't geting anything done. Sends the skidder over to find out what's going on and the kid had started a fire in the woods and was sittng by it drying his socks! )

Most likely outcome here is that both saws are home runs. I already told my rep to send me 50 572's and a dozen 565's as soon as product codes are live in the system. More than half of them are already spoken for. A little ways down the road, the stihl dealer will have his own party with the new stihls. The husky guys are happy, the stihl guys are happy, dealers are happy. Everybody's happy. Except here, where some guys will have something new to argue about. :)

You guys are funny arguing about stihl vs husky the only reason I'm on here is to look at @how57 and @Derf Avatar! Haha in all seriousness both saws seem like a home run to a non biased saw owner like myself. The Stihl might be lighter and faster but the husqvarna more durable and able to run a longer bar. Bar length doesn't really matter in my neck of the woods there is rarely a need for over a 24 incher.

That’s about as accurate a statement as a person who knows his business can make. People are people. Creatures of habit. If they’re stuck on a brand for whatever reason you’ll be hard pressed to change em. Doesn’t always make sense but that seems to be the way it is.

Doubt the 572XPG will be in the first containers, but any delay should be a short one. Maybe a month or so?????

565 will be the sleeper. Guessing the usual $100 spread between the 2 saws. Shares a lot of parts with the 572. No gray paint either. BTW, the silver paint that we all know and love goes away due to environmental regs in the EU. (maybe from falling off? LOL) Been replaced by a dark gray that not only looks better but actually stays on the saw. Paint change will also happen on the 550's and 562's at some point during the year.

All orange and no silver just makes a 565 that much more appealing to me.
