SKF 6202 C3 VG104
Husky updated their bearings to VG104 in some 90's, you probleby won't find the VG104 bearing on SKF's homepage but its available through SKF, I've bought it from them

Is that bearing with plastic cage? Those cost around 40 euros, and takes a week to ship....... I just put SKF 6202-C3 in a 340/hyway cyl. & meteor piston along with new seals. Bearings were branded " explorer " whatever that means!!! They are mentioned to be ok to 28 000 rpm....... And cost for set of two were less than 8 euros.

Nowadays its SKF Explorer 6203 C3 VG104.

Reason why i asked is that this saw HVA_340.jpg
had bearings with plastic or improved cage material. It had a airleak ( plastic intake clamp ), belonged to a friend who asked how much for repairs, said 25 euros if only the clamp, 50 euros if bearings & seals also. He said too much, you can keep the saw for free.......
Of course could not leave the saw like that ( Thanks to Mattyo's posts & videos!! ), ordered p&c kit ( hyway / meteor ), new bearings & seals. Seals which i bought look same as the originals that came out from the saw when took it apart. Previous owner said he bought the saw new, so that is the reason why i'm asking about the cage material. After first impressions been looking local craigslist for used 340, 345 and 350 saws....

Would someone in the know be happy to give me a quote for either a good clean NE used 346 top end kit or a NE new 346 top end kit posted to the UK? I cannot for love or money find any in the UK!

I've never checked, but the OE feels more snotty and quicker to rev. Must be a little different.

So I looked and looked and ran out of steam for a sub £200 346ne oem cylinder kit over here but came up with blanks.. so I bought a Hyway kit. It was meant to be a 44.3mm kit but measured 45mm. Has very nice plating and port finishes. Nicely beveled no scraggly castings. It’s a quad port... and.... wait for it... the numbers are the same as a toast 42mm oem top end I have.... then the transfer tunnels are big. Bigger than the 42mm OE anyway. Anyway built it up as is and slapped it through some 8 inch hornbeam. It runs like a slapped panda. It’s as if they have copied a 42 port numbers, opened them out and used the 44.3mm casting and bored it out. Overall I’m pretty happy and it’s the best out of the box AM kit I’ve used. And it came with a caber ring too [emoji3]

The 340/46xp can now see some run time this spring and then I will think about improving those numbers. [emoji869]

does anyone else have problems with a rattly clutch when the saw is not running? It works perfectly and everything looks spot on but the springs (oem original) rattle about? any reason to change them out?

Yes, same noise over here!! Those springs could be little stiffer if you ask my opinion.
