More deer hit by cars than taken by hunters. Lol. Go figure.

I much agree!! As we see a couple on the road everyday here. they don't have a chance to cross with so much traffic.

Sh:t. Sorry to hear. I have shot a few deer where you could clearly see that they had been hit in the past and healed up.

Nice rifle. I recently got a 94 that rolled off the line the same year I did, 1978. Will put up pics when I get around to it. My best friend shot a nice buck last year. His rifle was on a bipod, the deer was standing broadside, and we had a good blood trail to follow. We searched for two hours and finally concluded that he made it off the property.

I shot a big doe once with a 270 she was a quarter shot facing away i hit her just a bit low just behind front shoulder. Whe it came out other side it blew out other shoulder and got one lung. She ran like i missed her as i was about to give i found on spec of lung tissue on a leaf. We tracked that deer about 1000 yards. We could see a couple times were she laid down a poured blood. I woulda never thought with a shot that good with a 270 a deer would go that far.when we jumped her once on top of her she jumped and ran again and buckled in the creek bellowing swinging her neck. I put another in her then she was done.

Just throwing this out there, but if you know anyone with a drone cam you could see the area from a different perspective. Might help. If it is bedded down.

Problem is, he was following a ridge that's full of hemlocks. No drone is going to look down on him from there.

Here's a Google Earth view:

Take along a dog. Put him on the blood with a leash. I've found a half dozen with my shorthair leading the way
