Guys I am so impressed by this 'lightly ported and muffler modded' 346ne compared to my muffler modded 550xp and a bone stock 346oe that I am starting to question ever using my Jred 2065 again... The power to weight is just great and makes anything else bigger just feel like a boat anchor..
turn that 2065 in to a racer!

No. Regular setup.
I gotta see if someone can do up this saw to a 350 and port it.
Just have too many nice running Stihls to bother doing it.
@t4driller can hook you up man. He's great with those models!

No, not new but the 445/450 have been updated enough that they changed the model number. Changes are moslty to do with easier starting.

New coil that fires at 700 RPM, new spring assist starter that doesn't stick out twice as far and no deco valve.

No deco makes it easier to start?????????? Well a deco makes it easier to pull over, but not necessarily easier to start because of the reduced compression. Especially for people who can't snap the rope real quick. So, the thinking is the spring assist starter and a coil that fires at lower RPM, but at full compression is the way to go.

It's on my list of to do items, don't worry.
It is an open port 48mm.. Square intake.. But in pretty much new condition.

I am gonna pull the jug in the new year, see what case matching can be done, dump the gasket and dual port the muffler and then go from there.

It's these 346/50 series that are giving me smiles at the moment :)

Thought the e stood for etech which meant cat muffler????

No, just an e doesn't refer to e-tech, it is about other (usually unwanted by people used to chainsaws) features of the model. I don't remember the details for sure at this point, but on the 450/445 I believe it is about a "tool-less" chain adjuster and maybe some "start help".

It should be easy to find out for sure by going to the Husky web-site and look up IPLs and/or operator manuals.

Right guys humour my stupidity.. I managed between snow storms to get the 351G out. But.. it is low on revs.. WOT is probs around 11000.. then it will be slow off the throttle.. then it will just die if throttled on either PTO or flywheel side down. So I checked spark, checked it’s getting fuel. Reset the metering lever which was quite low and stripped and Cleaned the carb.

So it idles nicely. Seals are new and not leaking. Impulse is clear and not split. Screws are both set to 1 1/2 as a base line. And now it is dark and rainy outside.

Anything else I should check. Could a blocked tank vent show these issues?

Lean those screws out some, 3/4 to 7/8 turn out from bottom will be closer

Really. Thought the base settings were 1 1/4 in the manual. So I opened the h to 1 1/2 due to the hooge muffler mod. I am assuming i thought the bog from idle was as it was too lean on the L. Obvs I have just been over fueling the heck outta it.. thanks, I’ll try those screw settings tomorrow..

Yes, too rich can make the same bog off idle as too lean. This bout drove me crazy a couple years ago. Also 11k rpm wot is way too low. Lean the H some and get it up close to 14k

Yeah I know 11k is way to low. My 2065 rpms were pissing all over this 351.. Damn it.

Leaning the H out didn’t solve the rpms. I recon the Low was still too rich to lean the high out enough but because of the bog I thought it needed more on the low needle. Then pesky carbs being all sneaky. I’ll try 3/4 on both tomorrow.
