Guys I am so impressed by this 'lightly ported and muffler modded' 346ne compared to my muffler modded 550xp and a bone stock 346oe that I am starting to question ever using my Jred 2065 again... The power to weight is just great and makes anything else bigger just feel like a boat anchor..

My Dad runs 16" .325 058 (TSB) on his 242 and 346, my MOFO 026 is running a Sugi 18" .325 .063 (mostly because I was already heavily invested in those loops when it still had the old crap-tacular laminated bar on it. My Lone Wolf 020T is a 14".325

Lol. I didn't buy it. My FIL gave it to me. Box store 345e. Runs pretty good. For a Hooskie clam shell. I just have to replace that cheap plastic wire tie with a metal clamp.
I run mainly .325 8 tooth on my 026s in 16" and 18". The only real 3/8 setup I like is 16" 3/8 square 7 tooth. It cuts real nice with plenty of MOFO power behind it.
On that Hooskie 345 it came with a 16" .325 setup.

Isn't the e a tool-less chain adjuster? I hate that...

LOL. There is nothing easy to start on this 345e. It is just as hard as any of my other saws. Must still have good compression. Lol
I have a manual somewhere. I thought the e stood for something else. I think the saw is a 2006 or so year of manufacture.

That's about the year I bought the 450. Before I knew better!

Lol. My FIL bought it at Lowe's. The saw is actually very strong and smooth with the springer suspension. Kinda sorta keeps up with a stock 026.
I ran it until @Mattyo posted a thread on that plastic tie wrap issue. He may have saved the saw P&C for me. Lol
I really have been afraid to run it at all until I get the metal clamp on it. Just not thrilled about having to pull the jug just to replace a plastic tie wrap on the intake partition, thus the reason of why I am not a big Hooskie fan. I think it is completely stupid to have to do all of that just for a tie wrap that should have been a metal clamp from the beginning.
But whatever.

If you want to make a runner out of it Jeff, throw an 346NE P/C on it while you replace the intake clamp. From what I hear, they're available for about $100. Should easily beat out a stock 026 with that top end on it. Obviously that turns the boot camp repair into a more expensive upgrade, but you can stash the stock p/c as a backup, and it's a pretty cheap way to make that into a sweet little saw.

The 340 runs very well to considering its 40cc. Any 038 036 et al clamps work on the boot of these huskies..
